That is the information given by Mr. Le Ba Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang province - at the conference on connecting and agreeing on cooperation in lychee consumption in Bac Giang province in 2025.
Lychee season faces unfavorable weather
According to Mr. Thanh, the 2025 lychee season encountered unfavorable weather, with prolonged heat and drought. However, the rate of lychee flowering reached over 90%, and the fruit set rate reached over 80%.
Estimated output is over 165,000 tons, of which the lychee production area according to VietGAP standards is 16,000 hectares, GlobalGAP is 204 hectares and organic is 10 hectares.
“Early lychee harvest is expected to be from May 20 to June 15. Main-season lychee harvest is from June 10 to July 30, 2025,” said Mr. Thanh.
He added that lychees are prone to dehydration and color change. Ensuring the production area code and packaging facility code is very important. Currently, the province has about 240 growing area codes (about 17,400 hectares) and 39 packaging facilities for export.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang province requested specialized agencies to ensure irrigation water, electricity for pumping water to fight drought, care for lychees, and at the same time forecast pests and diseases, especially fruit stem borers and downy mildew, to guide farmers in good care.
Regularly inspect the trading of fertilizers, pesticides, and biological products in production areas and strictly handle violations. Increase sampling and monitoring of lychee growing areas for export to the US, Japan, China, Thailand, Australia, etc.
Promoting lychee to Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai
Mr. Duong Ngoc Chien - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province - said that the department always accompanies and provides maximum support for businesses and partners to consume the province's agricultural products and fruits, including lychee.
“We are willing to share and provide maximum support to lychee growers, businesses, and traders at home and abroad in surveying, purchasing, processing, transporting, and consuming lychee,” he said.
Mr. La Van Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province - commented that Bac Giang lychee is a special, long-standing, key crop with high value in the province's agricultural economic development and is famous at home and abroad. The annual production value of lychee is estimated at about 5,000 billion VND.
Bac Giang province identifies all domestic and foreign markets as important, so consumption connections are promoted from the beginning of the season and are expected to be distributed to wholesale markets and traditional markets nationwide, especially Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Dong Nai.
Besides the traditional market of China, Bac Giang continues to expand and complete the export supply chain to the US, Japan, Korea, Europe, Malaysia, Singapore and access the Middle East and Canadian markets.

This includes connecting, discussing, and signing contracts to purchase and consume products.
Logistics and express delivery units build specialized logistics chains to deliver goods, save costs, and shorten shipping times so that fresh lychees reach consumers.
