V-League: Lack of personality but full of noise

TPO - The noise from referees to off-field issues has made Vietnamese football's image worse in the eyes of football fans, but it lacks attractive personalities and shining moments of stars that are enough to make fans come to the stadium.

Quang Hai has not shone as often as before, both in the Vietnamese national team and the current CAHN club. It is not only a matter of form and age, but also of his motivation to contribute, which is no longer the same as in his peak.

A generation that once went everywhere and created waves of admiration for the Thuong Chau generation with names like Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Duy Manh or Doan Van Hau... is also starting to face the other side of the career slope. Hang Day Stadium, once packed with spectators after the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, is now gradually becoming less crowded and bustling.

Pleiku is now less fun every day as HAGL's performance is getting worse day by day. Mr. Duc appears less and becomes more reserved in the media. Mr. Duc is a part of the history of Vietnamese football, whether loved or not. The crowd of football fans has its own reasons, which explains why HAGL has not had as many achievements as Hanoi FC in the past decade but still has a large fan base.

The Changzhou generation once made the V-League race exciting and attractive to fans.

Vietnamese football and V-League are becoming more professional, but emotions are gradually fading when on the field and in the stands there are no personalities that are attractive enough for fans. Meanwhile, sad stories and endless arguments between “adults” occur more frequently.

The noise caused by refereeing errors, which still happens in every tournament, sometimes erupts into attacks between parties because of behind-the-scenes issues. And the noise caused by the undercurrents behind the scenes, sometimes turns into a battle in the press. VFF has just had to impose a penalty of suspending HAGL Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh from duty because of unprofessional behavior off the field. It is like a cut into the football game, which is inherently full of competition.

A HAGL with a dream of beautiful football fading away because of ugly images on the sidelines

V-League now has VAR, foreign referees, and is organized with more technology and method. But it seems that football is lacking the catalysts to turn the field into a real party for fans.
