Uzbekistan considers Vietnam a key important partner in Southeast Asia.

* Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Assemblies of Vietnam and Uzbekistan As reported by the People's Deputies Newspaper, right after the official welcoming ceremony, on the afternoon of April 5, at the Uzbekistan National Assembly Building, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with President of the Uzbekistan Senate Tanzila Narbaeva.

At the talks, Senate President Tanzila Narbaeva warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, emphasizing the importance of the first visit by a National Assembly Chairman since the two countries established diplomatic relations; expressing her belief that the visit will open up promising cooperation opportunities for the two countries, making positive contributions to the development and national construction of each country.

Senate President Tanzila Narbaeva assessed Vietnam as the most dynamically developing country in Asia, a close friend of Uzbekistan with a traditional friendship that has been tested by time; affirmed that geographical distance cannot be a barrier for the two countries to develop relations in all fields. President Tanzila Narbaeva recalled memories of her youth when she met many Vietnamese students studying in Tashkent.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, to lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to an official visit to beautiful and hospitable Uzbekistan and to attend the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150); thanked the Senate President and the Uzbekistan side for the warm welcome given to the delegation as well as the profound memories with Vietnam.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman sincerely congratulated Uzbekistan on its impressive development achievements, its increasingly strengthened role in the region and the world; and congratulated Uzbekistan on hosting the 150th IPU General Assembly, contributing to affirming the prestige and high appreciation that the international community has for Uzbekistan.

Recalling the visits to Uzbekistan by President Ho Chi Minh in 1959 and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in 2011, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his appreciation for the long-standing traditional friendship and wished to promote cooperation with Uzbekistan in all fields to contribute to the development of each country; affirming that Vietnam always remembers the assistance of the people of Uzbekistan to Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation and in the construction and development of the country.

Sharing Vietnam's great achievements in nearly 40 years of renovation in ensuring socio-political stability and strong economic recovery, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that Vietnam is currently "accelerating, breaking through, and reaching the finish line" to successfully complete the development goals for the 2021-2025 period, towards a new era - an era of rising up, developing richly, civilizedly, and prosperously for the nation , successfully achieving the goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the country's founding.

The President of the Senate of the National Assembly of Uzbekistan expressed his impression and admiration for the remarkable development steps that Vietnam has achieved after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi under the wise leadership of generations of Vietnamese leaders, highly appreciated the goals that the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam have set to develop the country, improve the income and living standards of the people; affirmed that Uzbekistan highly values ​​the traditional friendship and good multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam and considers Vietnam as a key important partner of Uzbekistan in the Southeast Asian region. President of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva also shared Uzbekistan's major guidelines and policies in institutional reform and socio-economic development, towards the people, similar to Vietnam.

In an atmosphere of trust, openness and joy at the establishment of the Vietnam - Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Groups by the two National Assemblies and the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies, the two leaders of the legislative bodies emphasized that the two countries need to promote the good values ​​of the history of bilateral relations, continue to deepen Vietnam - Uzbekistan cooperation comprehensively in all fields and channels, including the Party, State, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges; increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly, exchange cooperation and experience between specialized committees, Friendship Parliamentary Groups, Young Parliamentarians' Groups, and Women Parliamentarians' Groups; promote the role of supervising and urging the implementation of the Cooperation Agreements signed by the two Governments, especially the agreements that help promote economic - trade and humanitarian cooperation, etc.; continue to support each other in expanding cooperation with Parliaments of countries in the region.

Assessing that there is still much room and untapped advantages in Vietnam-Uzbekistan economic and trade cooperation, the two leaders agreed to focus on a number of key directions in the coming time to develop mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, and to increase information exchange on policies and markets; create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to participate in investment and trade promotion activities; promote cooperation in the fields of energy and oil and gas, areas in which both sides have potential and demand, especially in the context of needing to diversify investment partners.

The two leaders also emphasized that cooperation in the fields of agriculture, textiles, healthcare, culture, tourism, education and training, transportation, local cooperation and people-to-people exchange plays a very important role in promoting bilateral relations; requested relevant agencies to strengthen cooperation in education and training, student exchange; welcomed the airlines of the two countries to open direct flights between Khanh Hoa and Tashkent from June 2024 so that people of the two countries can increase exchanges, mutual understanding, and promote tourism; highly appreciated the two countries' Foreign Ministries signing the Cooperation Agreement on this occasion, an important basis to help promote the role of a bridge, coordinate and support ministries, branches and agencies to establish direct cooperation and partnership relations.

The two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, within the framework of the United Nations and international organizations of which the two countries are members. As an active member of ASEAN and AIPA, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for Uzbekistan to expand cooperation with ASEAN - AIPA and other member parliaments; at the same time, he asked Uzbekistan to support the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam in resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan agreed with the proposal of the Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man on caring for, supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and do business stably in the host country, contributing to the development of Uzbekistan and being an important bridge to promote the friendly relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited the Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan to visit Vietnam. The Chairman of the Senate thanked him and said that a delegation including representatives from both the Senate and the House of Representatives would soon visit and work with Vietnam.
