400 tourist vehicles were granted badges
Recently, departments, branches and localities in Khanh Hoa have focused on solving and removing difficulties and obstacles, contributing to helping businesses stabilize their business operations.
Notably, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has directed to allow passenger vans with more than 29 seats with the "Tourist Vehicle" badge to enter Nha Trang city center during rush hour, removing difficulties for passenger transport businesses.
The increase in private cars causes local traffic congestion on Nha Trang streets.
According to statistics from the Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, there are currently 76,000 cars in the area (of which nearly 50,000 are cars). Along with that, the inner-city road system of Nha Trang City is quite narrow, the number of private vehicles is increasing, and there are many private cars parked along the streets. Local congestion still occurs in some places in Nha Trang.
Representatives of tourist transport businesses in Khanh Hoa said that authorities need to reasonably divide traffic and have a policy of prioritizing tourist vehicles entering Nha Trang City.
The proposed viewpoint is to reasonably divide traffic flow, giving priority to tourist vehicles entering and leaving the city to avoid local congestion.
Nha Trang City authorities regulate traffic during rush hour.
Mr. Cao Tan Loi, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, said that recently, the Department has coordinated with the Department of Tourism and related units to remove difficulties for passenger transport businesses in the area.
Accordingly, badges have been granted to about 400 tourist vehicles allowed to enter Nha Trang City.
In addition to 400 licensed tourist cars, 10% of tourist cars in the area from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Gia Lai... gather in Nha Trang City, leading to local traffic congestion during rush hour.
More shuttle buses needed
A representative of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport said that it has now decentralized road management to localities, built a traffic safety system, coordinated patrols and controls to ensure traffic safety order...
Therefore, the local Traffic Safety Committee assesses the current status of traffic distribution suitable for each area.
"Currently, there are quite a few transportation businesses applying for tourist transport licenses, so on the roads in Nha Trang City, there is a phenomenon of local congestion during rush hours and on long holidays.
In the coming time, after waiting for approval, in 2024, we will deploy the construction of large-scale parking lots for vehicles with more than 29 seats to concentrate there. In the immediate future, we suggest that businesses use shuttle buses to reduce traffic pressure in Nha Trang City.
The number of visitors to Nha Trang City increased during the holidays.
The Automobile Transport Association, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, Khanh Hoa Travel Association continue to promote and mobilize tourist transport units to use small cars (16 seats) to transport passengers in the city during rush hours; arrange and pick up and drop off tourists on tours arriving and departing at reasonable times to avoid traffic jams," said Mr. Cao Tan Loi.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut, Permanent Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association added that immediately after the Covid-19 epidemic, Khanh Hoa province issued a document allowing tourist vehicles with more than 29 seats to circulate during peak hours on the condition that they are tourist contract vehicles. This requires vehicles to meet the prescribed standards to serve tourism.
This policy has removed difficulties for tourism transport businesses that have existed for many years, contributing to creating more favorable conditions to attract tourists to the coastal city of Nha Trang.
According to the report of Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, in the first 11 months of 2023, the total number of visitors staying in the area is estimated at 6.48 million, an increase of 168.4% over the same period in 2022 (exceeding 62% of the plan).
Of which, international visitors are estimated at over 1.86 million, 8.2 times higher (24.4% higher); domestic visitors are estimated at 4.61 million, up 111.1% (84.6% higher). Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly 30.8 trillion VND, up 140.3% (14%).
