On the evening of October 30, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Sau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ha District (Ha Tinh) said that the authorities had just rescued 9 workers constructing the North-South expressway project through Ha Tinh province who were trapped in a tent in the middle of a field when floodwaters rose.
According to Mr. Sau, at around 4:30 p.m. the same day (October 30), the People's Committee of Thach Ha District received a report that 9 workers of Dinh An Group Joint Stock Company (the unit constructing Son Loc Bridge, part of the North-South Expressway project, the border section between Viet Tien Commune, Thach Ha District and Son Loc Commune, Can Loc District) were in a camp but were isolated due to rising flood waters.
Upon receiving the news, the functional forces of Thach Ha and Can Loc districts coordinated with the Military Command of Ha Tinh province to mobilize 4 canoes to approach the scene to rescue the trapped workers.
However, due to the strong currents, the area where the 9 workers were trapped was located between the Gia River and the Vach Nam River, making rescue operations difficult. After many hours of effort, the authorities were able to reach the camp to bring the workers ashore.
By 7:00 p.m. the same day, the rescue work for 9 workers isolated by floodwaters was completed, ensuring the safety of people and rescue vehicles.
