UNESCO awarded the Heritage Certificate of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago

(Dan Tri) - A special highlight at the art program of the Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Festival 2024 was the UNESCO representative presenting the Certificate of World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago.
On the evening of May 11, at the new urban area of Bac Song Cam (Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong), the art program of the Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Festival 2024 took place with the theme "Hai Phong - Shining the heritage land". The festival also aims to celebrate the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong City Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024) and receive the title of World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended and shared the joy with the Party Committee and People of Hai Phong City at the above event.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, said: Hai Phong is a place "at the forefront of the storm", with an important position to protect the Fatherland. Hai Phong is always proud of its tradition of "loyalty and determination to win". Hai Phong City has been known since the time of General Le Chan reclaimed land and established An Bien village. Hai Phong has the historic Bach Dang River with the glorious feats of our ancestors to gain independence for the nation. Hai Phong continues to be a locality that "goes first and comes last", both the front line and the solid rear during the years of resistance war to save the country. In recent years, the city's socio-economy has always developed strongly and made breakthroughs, with an average GRDP of 12.7%/year for 9 consecutive years.

According to the record, the Art Program of the Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Festival 2024 consists of 3 chapters: Chapter 1 is called "The Moonlight of the Sea" with the main image being the legendary moonlight. The moon has many meanings in Eastern beliefs, is a symbol of the cycle of time, crops in agricultural culture. Chapter 2 is called "Hai Phong - Radiant May", with the main image in the stage staging being the lighthouse with many meanings in history and time. Long Chau Lighthouse is often called "Long Chau pearl eye". This is an ancient lighthouse that still stands tall in the middle of the sea and sky of Cat Hai, guiding tens of thousands of ships and boats going back and forth in the Gulf of Tonkin and offshore of Vietnam. Chapter 3 is called "Hai Phong - Illuminating the Heritage Land", with the main image being the aspirational sun. The sun is a symbol of life, of the most brilliant and endless source of light, illuminating the world. The sun also represents the strong aspirations of a city before dawn, bringing new opportunities and opportunities with strategic orientations and visions, opening a door to a promising future for the port city. The art program also has a special mark, because Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province together received the UNESCO Certificate of World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, the first inter-provincial heritage of Vietnam.

Since 1992, Quang Ninh province has prepared a dossier and received UNESCO's recognition of Ha Long Bay as a world natural heritage in 1994; Ha Long Bay was again recognized for the second time in 2000. To enhance the value of Ha Long Bay, since 2011, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong have agreed and jointly prepared a dossier to submit to UNESCO so that Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago will be recognized as a world natural heritage on September 16, 2023.

On the occasion of the Red Flamboyant Festival, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, sent his thanks to UNESCO, the Government, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations for their support to the two localities.
