UEF achieved 4-star international QS Stars certification according to new standards

On August 23, the QS University Rankings (Quacquarelli Symonds - UK) announced that Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) continued to achieve the QS Stars 4-Star international certification, cycle 2.

According to the 2024 assessment cycle, UEF is the first university in Vietnam to apply the new QS Stars Standard Set version 6.0, which was just issued by this organization in February 2024. The new standard set includes 9 standards: Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Good Governance, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Academic Development, Programme Strength, Global Engagement, and Environmental Impact.

For the new QS Stars standard set version 6.0, QS updated many standards related to the 17 United Nations development goals (Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs) to support universities with international orientation, while preparing a workforce with knowledge and skills to solve community and social challenges.

For the old standards, QS has updated many contents that are trending in the development of international higher education. Regarding the teaching quality standards, the school is evaluated not only through student satisfaction, the ratio of lecturers/students, the rate of students graduating on schedule, the quality of teaching but also through the rate of students continuing to study, the learning management system and academic support consulting.

UEF is one of the universities that meets the standards for educational quality assessment according to the new standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. At the same time, the school also achieved the quality assessment certificate for 16 undergraduate majors and 1 master's major.

In addition, the highlight that makes the school's training strength is the diversity of international programs from student exchange, international semester to joint programs. Students have many opportunities to study in Vietnam or transfer 2+2 or 3+1 at foreign schools that the school cooperates with to receive international degrees.

In the 2024 assessment cycle, QS added the diversity, equity and inclusion criteria to replace the Inclusive Development criteria to assess a university in providing a fair learning environment and caring for the development of each individual, respecting differences and freedom of expression.

As a bilingual learning environment, the school always creates conditions for students to interact and exchange with many international experts in extracurricular activities. From the sharing of foreign experts, students can learn a more professional and comprehensive way of looking at problems. Knowledge and thinking are no longer "limited" to the domestic context, but develop logical thinking according to the perspective and general situation of the world.

On the other hand, to help students comfortably study, practice and research, the school always creates favorable conditions in terms of facilities from classrooms, extracurricular areas, practice areas, physical training, arts, etc. all fully equipped with modern tools and equipment.

With student employment standards, in addition to evaluating based on the presence of businesses at the school or the school's reputation with businesses, the rate of students having jobs, career support services and employment for students, QS also evaluates the results of graduates working in the right field of study, and the rate of students participating in internships.

The QS Stars 4-Star international certification in the 2nd cycle together with the 5-Star rating of important standards once again affirms the quality of training and the position of the school on the international education map. This is a typical example of a highly international school, demonstrating excellence in both research and teaching, providing a good teaching and training environment for students and lecturers.
