Provincial People's Committee works with KOICA on the Project of Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities in the province

Today, June 21, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam held a meeting to discuss the design and construction plan for the Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled in Quang Tri province. The Project of Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities in Quang Tri province is funded by KOICA with a total investment of 12.67 million USD, implementation period from 2022 - 2025.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee listened to KOICA and the consulting unit report on the overall design and construction plan of the project, implementation progress, budget of project components...

The two sides also focused on discussing to remove obstacles and speed up the progress of implementing basic design documents as a basis for preparing and submitting to competent authorities for approval of the feasibility study report; agreeing on the budget source for the construction component according to the approved investment policy report.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam acknowledged the efforts of the consulting unit in completing the preliminary design based on comments from delegates at previous meetings; and affirmed that the Provincial People's Committee basically agreed with the design presented by the consulting unit.

To implement related tasks in the coming time, the People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to guide regulations according to Vietnam's construction standards to complete appropriate design plans and promptly submit them to competent authorities for approval.

The Department of Health urgently agreed with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to submit to the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Home Affairs the personnel plan and organizational structure of the Center for Social Protection and Rehabilitation for the Disabled in Quang Tri province.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam also suggested that along with shortening the implementation procedures of the basic construction component, it is necessary to implement in parallel the components of equipment procurement and capacity building training to implement the project on schedule.

The Provincial People's Committee hopes that Medipeace will coordinate with KOICA to provide financial support for activities in the initial phase after the completion of the center's construction to ensure the sustainability of the project.
