Provincial People's Committee holds regular meeting in December 2024

Overview of the meeting.

In December 2024, the Provincial People's Committee focused on leading and implementing many important contents. In particular, submitting to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and approval of 21 reports and 47 draft resolutions to ensure timeliness, quality, and compliance with regulations; Directing the Vinh City People's Committee to announce administrative units and Party organizations in newly established wards to ensure progress; Issuing a plan on arranging and streamlining the organization of the Nghe An provincial government according to the direction of the Central Government.

Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Thanh Tung reported on the implementation of the conclusions of the Provincial People's Committee leaders and compiled the diary of consulting on work handling of departments, branches and localities.

Regarding the socio-economic situation, Nghe An's total GRDP growth rate in 2024 is estimated at 9.01%, ranking 13th in the country. The industrial production index for the whole year is estimated to increase by 15%. Notably, the production of electronic components and auto parts is estimated at 580 million products, double the same period. In 2024, the cumulative number of tourists is estimated at 9.45 million, up 13% over the same period; tourism revenue is estimated at 11,160 billion VND. Budget revenue in 2024 is estimated at 24,800 billion VND, reaching nearly 156% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council. As of December 20, the total disbursed public investment plan reached 73.35%.

Regarding investment attraction, the province has granted 82 new projects and adjusted 167 projects, with a total capital of nearly 61,490 billion VND, 1.12 times higher than the same period in 2023.

In addition to the achieved results, some shortcomings and limitations have also been pointed out in the implementation of socio-economic goals. Some district-level localities lack attention to State management of grassroots authorities, are not close to the people to promptly resolve arising issues; there are signs of laxity in leadership, direction and administration, affecting the effectiveness, efficiency and general development of the province.

Currently, the investment demand is large, but resources are still limited, so the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: localities must take advantage of mechanisms and policies, especially Resolution 137 of the National Assembly, public-private partnership projects to increase resources to implement public investment projects in the new period.
