U22 Vietnam remains undefeated at the CFA Team China tournament. |
After the surprising 1-1 draw against South Korea, coach Dinh Hong Vinh continued to field a squad with many familiar faces such as Cao Van Binh, Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Quoc Viet and Nguyen Hong Phuc in the match against Uzbekistan. Newcomer Viktor Le was once again named in the starting lineup.
Before the match, U22 Vietnam raised their shirts to pay tribute to midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, who suffered a serious injury and had to leave the tournament early. VFF did not provide information about the injury situation and the time of injury of the Ho Chi Minh City Club player.
In the first half, U22 Vietnam played on par with their highly rated opponents. Viktor Le and his teammates confidently deployed the ball and created a few chances. However, the efforts of Nguyen Phi Hoang and some of the attackers were not enough to defeat the opponent's goalkeeper.
On the other hand, U22 Uzbekistan showed their strength in speed and technique. The Central Asian representative put a lot of pressure on Cao Van Binh's goal. The Vietnamese defense played well to keep the net safe.
In the second half, U22 Vietnam was under more pressure but still maintained a good formation to prevent attacks from the opponent. Substitutes such as Vo Anh Quan and Dinh Xuan Tien tried their best to support the U22 Vietnam defense in preventing danger from afar. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
In the final round, U22 Vietnam will win the championship if they beat host China.
