Vietnam's U17 women's team is in Group B of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers, along with Australia, Bangladesh and the Philippines. Australia is the first team to arrive in Vietnam to acclimatize and get used to the weather. The team trained at the PVF Football Center from September 12-18. There, they had a friendly match with PVF U15 men's team. The team returned to Hanoi to prepare for the matches starting on September 20.
Bangladesh and the Philippines will arrive in Vietnam on September 18. Meanwhile, the Vietnam U17 women's team will gather at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from August 15. After that, coach Akira Ijiri and his team will train in Nam Dinh until the tournament day.
Sharing about the upcoming goal in the second qualifying round of the 2024 Asian U17 Women's Championship, Coach Akira Ijiri affirmed that the team's biggest goal is to pass the second qualifying round to enter the final round next year of this Asian U17 Women's Championship.
“I am thinking of a long-term strategy for the U17 and U20 women’s youth teams in the next four years. Being able to participate in the World Cup depends on many factors, including a long-term plan and possibly starting with younger players. Vietnamese women’s football has a gap with the world. When this gap is shortened, the story of participating in the World Cup will be simpler,” said Mr. Akira.
The matches in Group B will take place on September 20, 22 and 24 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and will be broadcast live on FPT Play. The four teams will compete in a round robin to find the top two teams to qualify for the final round of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Championship.
