Vietnam U17 is training in Oman to complete the final stages in preparation for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals, taking place in Saudi Arabia from April 3 to 20.
In the early morning of March 26, U17 Vietnam won 1-0 against U17 Oman with the only goal scored by Bui Duy Dang in the 82nd minute. In order to serve the professional work of the two teams' coaching staff, the match took place in a stadium without spectators and media.
U17 Vietnam and U17 Oman both aim to review their squads, test their lineups and tactics before officially entering the continental playground.
In his latest statement, coach Cristiano Roland affirmed: "The whole team is determined and focused to achieve the highest goal for Vietnamese football. But we also need to keep some information confidential before entering the tournament."
According to the plan, the two teams will have a rematch at 0:30 on March 28 (Vietnam time). After this match, U17 Vietnam will leave for Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals.
At the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals, the Vietnam U17 team is in a group with defending champions Japan, Australia and UAE.
According to FIFA's decision, from 2025, the U17 FIFA World Cup will be held annually instead of every two years. At the same time, the number of participating teams will increase from 24 to 48, in which Asia will be given 8 places to participate.
This means that the eight teams that reach the quarter-finals of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship will qualify for the U17 World Cup.
