After losing to U16 Ulsan Hyundai, the U16 team of PVF Football Center faced U16 Man City in the second round of the Shanghai Future Star Cup 2023. This is a friendly tournament taking place in China with the participation of European teams Man City, Tottenham and Porto.

Man City U16 has some quality players like Leke Drake, Regan Heskey or David Chigwada. They are young talents trained at one of the best football academies in Europe. However, PVF U16 is not afraid to hold the ball and proactively launch systematic attacks.

In the 12th minute, coach Nguyen Duy Dong's team opened the score thanks to Doan Huy Long. U16 Man City equalized just 2 minutes later with a goal by Jose Roca.

The match was exciting and fast-paced. U16 PVF created many good chances towards U16 Man City's goal. Meanwhile, the English team also played with a methodical style of play reminiscent of their seniors. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, U16 PVF entered the game quickly to gain an advantage when the opponent's formation was not yet stable. In the 51st minute, Phung Quang Tu had a difficult shot that the opposing goalkeeper could not catch. Doan Huy Long quickly appeared to score, raising the score to 2-1.

In the remaining time, U16 Man City dominated the ball. However, PVF's defense played focused to preserve the score of 2-1. This victory helped U16 PVF expand their chances of advancing. In the final round, they met U16 Aspire - a famous football academy in Qatar.

The Shanghai Future Star Cup 2023 is held in Shanghai (China), including 8 teams from 8 youth training centers: PVF (Vietnam), Man City, Tottenham (England), Cerezo Osaka (Japan), Ulsan Hyundai (Korea), Aspire (Qatar), Porto (Portugal) and host SFA (China).

PVF U16 is in Group A with Man City, Aspire and Ulsan Hyundai. The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals.

U16 PVF sent a quality squad with many players from the Vietnam U17 team. The coaching staff consists of two former players, head coach Nguyen Duy Dong and assistant Mai Tien Thanh.
