U16 PVF defeated U16 Man City.

Following their loss to Ulsan Hyundai U16, the PVF Football Center's U16 team will face Manchester City U16 in the second match of the Shanghai Future Star Cup 2023. This is a friendly tournament held in China featuring European teams such as Manchester City, Tottenham, and Porto.

The U16 Man City team boasts several quality players such as Leke Drake, Regan Heskey, and David Chigwada. These are young talents trained at one of Europe's best football academies. Despite this, the U16 PVF team is not afraid to control possession and proactively launch well-organized attacks.

In the 12th minute, Coach Nguyen Duy Dong's team opened the scoring thanks to Doan Huy Long. U16 Man City equalized just two minutes later with a goal from Jose Roca.

The PVF U16 team defeated Man City U16 with a score of 2-1.

The match was exciting and fast-paced. U16 PVF created numerous good opportunities towards the U16 Man City goal. Meanwhile, the English team also played with a systematic style reminiscent of their senior counterparts. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, U16 PVF started quickly to gain an advantage while their opponents were still settling into their formation. In the 51st minute, Phung Quang Tu's difficult shot was too much for the opposing goalkeeper to hold onto. Doan Huy Long was quick to react and scored the rebound, making the score 2-1.

For the remainder of the match, U16 Man City dominated possession. However, the PVF defense played with focus to preserve the 2-1 scoreline. This victory opens up opportunities for U16 PVF to advance. In the final match, they will face U16 Aspire – a renowned football academy in Qatar.

The Shanghai Future Star Cup 2023 was held in Shanghai (China), featuring eight teams from eight youth academies: PVF (Vietnam), Man City, Tottenham (England), Cerezo Osaka (Japan), Ulsan Hyundai (South Korea), Aspire (Qatar), Porto (Portugal), and host nation SFA (China).

U16 PVF is in Group A along with Man City, Aspire, and Ulsan Hyundai. The top two teams in the group qualify for the semi-finals.

U16 PVF fielded a quality team with many players who had been called up to the Vietnam U17 national team. The coaching staff consisted of two former national team players, head coach Nguyen Duy Dong and assistant coach Mai Tien Thanh.
