Supporting the policy of building the North-South high-speed railway, Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Group, committed to ensuring competitive prices, lower than imported steel.
The head of Hoa Phat Group, billionaire Tran Dinh Long, has just said that Hoa Phat fully supports the policy of building the North-South high-speed railway and especially appreciates the policy of including the requirement of "must use" goods produced by domestic enterprises in bidding packages.

Hoa Phat Group is the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia and in the Top 50 largest steel producers in the world, with a capacity of 8.5 million tons/year.
From 2025, after the completion of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Complex Project, Hoa Phat's crude steel production capacity will increase to more than 14 million tons/year, including 8.6 million tons of hot-rolled coil steel and high-quality steel.
Hoa Phat also owns modern steel complexes, and its workforce has confidently mastered the technology to produce many types of high-quality, difficult steel for the construction and mechanical engineering industries.
The Group has a diverse product chain, from construction steel, high-quality rolled steel, high-strength prestressed steel, wire drawn steel to hot-rolled steel (HRC), steel pipes, and galvanized steel.
Mr. Long said that in the past 3 years, Hoa Phat has been researching the steel rail product line. The production of high-speed railway steel rails is completely within the Group's capabilities.

In fact, Hoa Phat Group is surveying and proposing investment plans for a number of large projects in Phu Yen province, including the Iron and Steel Complex project. The expected product structure here focuses on high-quality steel lines for mechanical engineering such as steel plates, structural steel, shaped steel, and steel rails.
In a document sent to the Ministry of Transport by the People's Committee of Phu Yen province to request approval for the connection of the railway line from Bai Goc port to the North-South national railway line, about 12 km long, the People's Committee of Phu Yen province also mentioned the Hoa Phat Group's metallurgical and steel production plant in Hoa Tam Industrial Park in the South Phu Yen Economic Zone.
It is expected that this factory will have high-speed rail steel products with common sizes from 50m - 100m, transported by rail instead of by road to the construction site.
According to the Pre-Feasibility Study Report of the North-South High-Speed Railway Investment Project invested by the Ministry of Transport, the North-South high-speed railway route passes through 20 provinces and cities with a length of about 1,541 km.
If all the rails are 100 meters long, the high-speed railway line on the North-South axis will need about 62,000 bars (double track design, 4 parallel bars are needed).
The railway steel market will increase significantly because in the period of 2024 - 2035, Vietnam will also upgrade the Thong Nhat railway line, the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line, 3 railway lines connecting with China, and build 580 km of urban railway in Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2025 - 2035 with a total investment capital of up to nearly 150 billion USD.
Because the construction progress of the high-speed railway on the North-South axis is carried out within 10 years (2024 - 2035), domestic enterprises need to speed up the preparation progress, including factory construction, technology transfer, trial production, mass production to meet technical standards with stable and reliable quality. Avoid the situation where the project has just started production but the construction phase has ended, causing investment waste.
Currently, the market capacity of steel rails in Vietnam is about less than 1,000 bars with a length of 12.5 m - 25 m to replace and maintain the existing North - South railway line.
