Billionaire Musk Moves Closer to Dream of Sending Humans to Mars After Trump's Victory

DNVN - According to some sources of Reuters (UK), billionaire Elon Musk's plan to send humans to Mars may become a bigger national priority when Mr. Donald Trump takes on the role of president.

The new policy is also likely to affect NASA's lunar research program and Musk's SpaceX corporation.

NASA has planned to use SpaceX's Starship rocket in its Artemis program, which aims to test trips to Mars by sending humans to the Moon. The program is expected to shift more focus to the Red Planet during Trump's term.

Building a spacecraft to carry out a mission to bring astronauts to Mars is considered more ambitious than lunar missions, but also comes with many challenges and high costs.

Musk has contributed $119 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign. In September, Trump said the moon was just a “launch pad” for the more distant goal of Mars.

Asked about the possibility of a change in direction under a new administration, a NASA spokesperson said it was inappropriate to speculate.
