Urban solid waste treatment rate reaches 86%

BHG - According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, currently, the total amount of solid waste generated in urban areas of the province is about 215 tons/day. The whole province currently has 17 areas and landfills for solid waste treatment. The total amount of urban solid waste collected is 204 tons/day, reaching 95% of the total amount of solid waste generated; the treatment rate is 86%.

Despite limited funding, unsynchronized infrastructure, and low awareness of waste classification at source among people, the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste has been paid attention to and implemented in accordance with practical conditions. Of which, 100% of urban areas in the province have units carrying out the collection of domestic solid waste; Ha Giang city and 4 districts including Vi Xuyen, Bac Quang, Hoang Su Phi and Meo Vac treat urban domestic waste by landfill or natural dumping; Yen Minh, Quang Binh districts... waste is classified and treated by incinerators, meeting environmental standards.
