The National University of Education High School for the Gifted recruited 315 students and received 6,113 applications, a sharp increase compared to previous years.
On May 15, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted announced that the number of candidates registering for 7 specialized subjects was 6,113, the highest since 2019. In previous years, the number of candidates registering for the school fluctuated between 4,500-5,400, while the quota was almost the same (305).
Dr. Vu Van Tien, Principal of the National University of Education High School for the Gifted, said the reason could be due to the slight increase in the number of ninth graders in Hanoi and some northern provinces. In addition, the school's quality has been affirmed over the years and is trusted by parents and students.
In terms of the competition ratio of the classes at the Pedagogical Specialized School, the Literature class has the strongest increase in competition ratio, from 1/18.3 to 1/28.5 because the school recruited 35 students but received 998 applications. This means that for every 28 candidates, only one student was admitted. Next is the competition ratio of the Information Technology class with 1/19.5, a sharp increase compared to last year's ratio of 1/10 because the number of applications nearly doubled.
The English Specialized Class still has the most applicants - 2,049, an increase of 120 compared to last year. But because the quota for this class also increased by 10, this year's competition ratio is 1/29.3, slightly down from 1/32.1 last year.
The specialized Chemistry and Biology classes have stable competition ratios, 1/19.8 and 1/10.2 respectively; Math has decreased slightly, from 1/13 to 1/11.9.
The entrance exam for grade 10 at the National University of Education's High School for the Gifted takes place on June 10. In the morning, candidates take the Math and Literature exams. These are two compulsory subjects, each with a 90-minute test. In the afternoon, candidates take the specialized subject exam, with a 120-minute test. Candidates who register for a specialized class will take the corresponding subject exam, except for IT classes, which will take the Math exam.
The admission score is the total score of three subjects, in which the specialized subject is multiplied by a coefficient of two. The University of Education High School for the Gifted does not add priority points to all candidates.
Last year, the highest standard score for the specialized Math class was 27.5. The four classes of Biology, Chemistry, Literature and English had similar standard scores, ranging from 25 to 25.25 points. The specialized IT and Physics classes had standard scores of 23.25 and 23.75 points, respectively.
