Meanwhile, in the US market, the US Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the greenback's fluctuations against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) decreased by 1.06% to 98.32.

The US dollar fell sharply in the last trading session, hitting a three-year low as investor confidence in the US economy was shaken.
President Donald Trump criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on April 21 via social media and asked him to immediately lower interest rates.

Earlier, on April 17, President Donald Trump asserted that he could force Mr. Powell to leave. On the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell for always acting “too slowly and incorrectly”, saying that the Fed should have cut interest rates sooner like other central banks. He also mentioned that “firing Mr. Powell did not happen quickly enough”. In a speech on the same day at the White House, Mr. Trump once again criticized the Fed Chairman for his slowness in cutting interest rates and asserted: “If I wanted him to go, he would go very quickly”.
On April 20, Bloomberg quoted French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial Sovereignty and Digital Eric Lombard as warning that if President Donald Trump fired Mr. Powell, the reputation of the USD would weaken and the US economy would be in turmoil. Mr. Lombard said that Mr. Trump's aggressive tariff policy has damaged the position of the USD for a long time. The dismissal of Mr. Powell would further aggravate this situation, especially in the bond market. The consequences would be high debt servicing costs and serious disruption to the US economy.
The DXY index slid to a low of 97.923 in the last trading session, its lowest level since March 2022, while the EUR rose above 1.15 USD.
US stocks suffered big losses on Tuesday following Mr Trump's tweet about Powell, with all three major indexes falling more than 2%.
Against the Swiss franc, the dollar fell more than 1.5% to a 10-year low of 0.8063, while the euro peaked at $1.1535, its highest since November 2021.
The dollar also hit a seven-month low against the yen, closing at 140.66. CFTC data showed net long positions in the Japanese yen hit a record high in the second week of April.
Meanwhile, the pound rose to its highest since September at $1.34, while the Australian dollar hit a four-month high of $0.6430. The New Zealand dollar reclaimed $0.6000 for the first time in more than five months.
President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs and uncertainty over his trade policies have roiled global markets and clouded the outlook for the world's largest economy, weakening the greenback as investors pull money out of US assets.
Meanwhile, the onshore yuan rose to a two-week high before retreating. The offshore yuan closed the session at 7.2931.
China kept its benchmark lending rate unchanged for a sixth straight month on April 21, in line with expectations, but markets are betting that the country will soon roll out more economic stimulus measures in the face of an escalating Sino-US trade war.
