According to plan, on May 26, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will gather again in Hanoi to prepare for the match against Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
This is the most important match for the Vietnamese team in their quest to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
In Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the red team will face Laos, Nepal and Malaysia.
The teams will play a round robin (home and away) to score points. The team leading the group will get a ticket to the Asian finals.
In Group F, Malaysia is considered the biggest opponent of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team in the competition for tickets to the next round.
But the Vietnamese team is currently rated higher by experts in terms of its ability to win first place in Group F.
However, there is certainly no way that the "Golden Star Warriors" will let their guard down against this opponent.
During FIFA Days in March 2025, the Vietnamese team had a successful opening match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers when they "destroyed" Laos 5-0.
In this match, defender Van Vi shone when he scored a double, the remaining goals were scored by Hai Long, Chau Ngoc Quang and Quang Hai.
With this victory, the Vietnamese team temporarily leads Group F in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, Malaysia also has 3 points but is behind due to a lower goal difference.
