3 " DETERMINATIONS" TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WISH
Mr. Nguyen Vo Dang Khoa, Deputy Head of Examination and Education Quality Assessment Department of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, informed that this year's 10th grade entrance exam, each student can register 3 wishes for regular 10th grade, 2 for specialized 10th grade and 3 for integrated 10th grade. Secondary schools and 9th grade homeroom teachers will be responsible for guiding parents and students to register online at ts10.hcm.edu.vn in the most convenient way.
To have a suitable choice of NV in the context of the high school program taught with the goal of career orientation, according to Mr. Dang Khoa, before making a choice of NV, determine the future orientation of the student; determine the subjects and professions that you love, from there find out which high school has a group of self-study subjects that are suitable for your learning NV; determine the distance from home to school so as not to affect the 3-year high school process.
After the above 3 factors, refer to the previous year's benchmark, review your ability, contact your teacher for timely support, advice, and knowledge supplementation.
Mr. Khoa also noted that when choosing NV, priority should be arranged from top to bottom, the first NV must be the desired high school, then NV 2 and 3 must be lower to achieve the set goal.
At the same time, the Deputy Head of the Examination Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also provided advice on choosing the appropriate NV. Parents and students can go directly to the high schools they intend to register for to find out. "The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training always tries to provide full information about high schools and subject groups of the schools so that students can learn before registering for NV at the NV registration portal for grade 10 and has also requested high schools to organize consultations to guide information for grade 9 students," said Mr. Khoa.
With the increase in the enrollment quota for grade 10 of public high schools, Mr. Dang Khoa assessed that this year's exam will "cool down" compared to previous years, especially in top schools when there are no specialized classes and quotas are added for regular grade 10. Therefore, Mr. Khoa reassured: "Don't worry too much, first of all, you need to prepare, review and supplement your knowledge to confidently enter the upcoming exam. The Department of Education and Training will always optimize opportunities for students to ensure the best opportunities for them. Besides, there are many paths to study after completing junior high school such as non-public schools, continuing education centers...".

MORE DIRECTIONS FOR STUDYING GRADE 10 FROM NON-PUBLISHED SCHOOLS
Attending the online consultation program on choosing 10th grade students organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper were also representatives of two non-public schools: Asian International School System and Tran Cao Van Secondary and High School.
Answering parents' questions about the curriculum, Ms. To Huynh Thu, Director of the Vietnamese Program, Asia International School, informed that the school teaches both the Vietnamese program according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the international program designed according to the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) and Common Core State Standards of the US.
In addition, students have the option to study the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) program (USA) with advanced subjects that help students access university-level knowledge early and have the opportunity to earn university credits while still in high school. Subjects in the AP program are recognized by most universities in the US and many places around the world.
How students from provinces outside Ho Chi Minh City will be facilitated to study and live when studying at non-public schools is a concern of many parents who sent to the consulting program.
Regarding this question, Mr. Nguyen Van An, career counselor at Tran Cao Van Secondary and High School, said that the school always strives to provide a favorable, safe and comprehensive learning and living environment for students through two models: semi-boarding and boarding.
For boarding students, morning classes are from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. After that, students stay at school for lunch, rest and continue studying from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm. In particular, the school has a daily shuttle service, which is very convenient for parents who cannot pick up and drop off their children.
Boarding students will study and live entirely at school, only returning home on weekends. In the evenings, they will be accompanied by a teacher who will help them study, do homework, and manage their personal activities.
The homeroom teacher will closely monitor each student's academic progress, while helping them maintain discipline and develop self-study skills, allowing students to study systematically, in a quiet and focused space.
Outside of school hours, boarding students also have the opportunity to participate in physical activities such as swimming, soccer, basketball, bodybuilding, etc. to develop both physically and mentally.
With this model, Mr. An believes that students will not need to study outside of school, but can still develop comprehensively in both knowledge and skills.
For students from other provinces, the school also provides a shuttle service to their homes, making studying away from home more convenient and safer.
How do non-public schools organize electives?
According to Mr. Nguyen Van An, career counselor at Tran Cao Van Secondary and High School, the school has built subject combinations that are suitable for the career orientation and strengths of each student. These include a combination of natural sciences for students who love math, physics, chemistry, and biology; a combination of social sciences for students who are strong in literature, history, geography, etc. In particular, the school also has an art combination, creating conditions for students with musical and painting talents to develop in the right direction, opening up opportunities to take entrance exams to specialized universities such as music, fine arts, theater - cinema, etc.
The school organizes classes according to student groups, allowing teachers to adjust teaching methods to suit the level and learning ability of each group. In particular, the school implements a completely free supplementary knowledge program for students who are weak or have not yet solid foundations.
The goal is not only to help students consolidate their knowledge, but also to inspire their passion for learning and confidence.
At the Asian International School, Ms. To Huynh Thu, Director of the Vietnam Program, said that students can choose from 8 diverse subject combinations, including: natural science combinations, social science combinations, and combinations with gifted subjects that match the students' strengths and career orientation.
The teaching methods of both programs are always focused on by the school's board of directors. The school has a team of professional managers to check, review and support subject teachers. Ensuring that the teaching content is both consistent with the 2018 General Education program and meets the requirements of modern education in the digital age. At the same time, complying with quality standards as a member of the CIS International Schools Accreditation Council.
