Although the graduation exam scores have not been announced, admission experts also predict that the admission score based on high school graduation exam scores will increase in "hot" majors.

Many majors use a benchmark score of nearly 10 points/subject from their transcripts.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, Vice Principal of the University of Transport, said that with nearly 6,000 enrollment targets in 2023, the school has currently recruited more than 30% of the total target through early admission methods. This year, the early admission benchmark for 33 training majors ranges from 23-28 points, of which many majors are over 27 points such as: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Hanoi National University of Education announced that the admission scores based on the transcript review method ranged from 20.5 to 29.8. Of which, Mathematics Education (taught in English) had 29.8 points because this major only recruited 5 students based on the transcript review method; Chemistry Education (taught in English) had 28.93 points.

Banking Academy also takes admission scores based on academic records as 29.8 points, for the following majors: Banking and Digital Banking, Finance, Financial Technology, Accounting, Business Administration, International Business, Economic Law, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Technology. Many other majors take scores above 29 such as: Information Systems (29.76), Information Technology (29.79), Economics (29.72), English Language (29.34).

Hanoi Law University has admission scores based on academic records in many majors exceeding 29 points, such as: Economic Law (29.67 - block C00; 29.73 blocks D01, D02, D03, D05, D06; A00); International Trade Law (29.44 - block A01; 29.00 - block D01).

Hanoi University of Industry announced the standard score from 25.1 to 29.23, in which Information Technology is the highest, with a score above 29.

The University of Transport Technology also set the highest standard score for the majors of E-commerce, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at 29 points.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates who have completed the application for admission to training institutions according to the early admission plan, if eligible for admission, must continue to register their admission wishes on the system, from July 10 to July 30, to be considered for admission according to regulations.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) reminded candidates that early admission does not mean that candidates are officially admitted. Candidates are only officially admitted when they register their wishes on the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training. At that time, the virtual filtering system will process the wishes and candidates will be admitted to only one wish. Therefore, if candidates ignore the online registration of their admission wishes on the Ministry's general system, they have missed their chance, even though they have been previously notified by schools of their temporary admission through early admission methods.

On the other hand, candidates need to carefully study the information in the training institution's enrollment plan as well as the enrollment regulations. The enrollment registration must fully meet the criteria on application requirements, procedures and enrollment time. In addition, candidates must correctly, fully and completely complete the enrollment registration process.

For candidates who participate in early admission and have been conditionally admitted, training institutions are responsible for updating the results on the system so that students can proactively choose the order of their wishes when registering for admission.

Many schools increase admission quotas based on graduation exam scores

Forecasting the admission scores to the National Economics University by considering graduation exam scores, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Duc Trieu, Head of Training Management Department, said: The admission scores of the National Economics University's majors this year are unlikely to decrease much compared to 2022. If there is an increase or decrease, the change in amplitude is very small (from 0.25-0.5 points, depending on the major code).

For “hot” majors such as: International Business, Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management... the benchmark score is all over 28 in 2022, so it will be difficult to increase it this year. However, candidates need to score over 28 points to have a chance to be admitted. Therefore, candidates can refer to the school's benchmark score in 2022 as a basis to adjust their wishes most appropriately.

According to Dr. Le Dinh Nam, Deputy Head of Admissions Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the benchmark scores for majors nationwide may increase slightly, but the benchmark scores for each training program of Hanoi University of Science and Technology may decrease.

For some "hot" majors that many candidates are interested in and have a high level of competition, such as the Information Technology group, this year's benchmark score is likely to increase slightly, especially since some admission codes for Information Technology last year did not use the results of the High School exam.

The benchmark scores for the Automation, Mechatronics and Mathematics and Information Technology groups may remain the same or not change significantly. Most of the remaining programs are expected to see a decrease in benchmark scores.

Explaining this forecast, Dr. Le Dinh Nam said that based on statistics, the number of candidates choosing to study at university is decreasing, with only about 50% of candidates enrolling in university. According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training, the number of high school graduates applying for university admission decreased by nearly 20% compared to 2021 and decreased by 3.4% compared to 2020.

Meanwhile, the number of candidates choosing the Natural Sciences block, the source of admission for schools that focus on recruiting in blocks A00, A01, B00, D07 such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, has decreased compared to previous years, accounting for only about 31.52% of the candidates taking the High School Graduation Exam. Along with the current diverse admission methods, many candidates with good abilities have been admitted through early admission methods.

Unlike 2022, this year, all training programs of Hanoi University of Science and Technology use the results of the high school graduation exam for admission. The admission quota for this unit based on exam scores (including high school exam scores and thinking assessment) has increased compared to 2022, accounting for 85-90%. This is also one of the bases for assessing the admission score to the school, which will decrease compared to previous years.

Giving advice to this year’s candidates in choosing a suitable major and career, Dr. Le Dinh Nam said: Candidates should carefully research the majors based on their interests, abilities and family conditions, not follow the crowd. Majors at Hanoi University of Science and Technology currently record a very high rate of employment after graduation with good salaries. Many alumni have achieved success in the fields they studied, even in less “hot” fields. Choosing a major based on personal advantages is a solid springboard for students to succeed in their career path.

In addition, with the interdisciplinary - multidisciplinary trend in higher education, technical majors are connected and similar. For example, candidates interested in electronics can learn more about some related majors such as materials, engineering physics, etc. to increase the possibility of passing the entrance exam to their favorite field.

According to the enrollment plan announced by training institutions, the quota for the method of considering high school graduation exam scores ranges from 30 to 80%. However, a notable point noted by many schools during this year's enrollment season is that the number of candidates registering for early admission methods has decreased significantly compared to last year. Therefore, schools will have to adjust the remaining quota for considering graduation exam scores.

Representatives of training institutions said that to accurately calculate the admission score by considering the graduation exam score increase or decrease compared to last year, we need to wait until the Ministry of Education and Training announces the exam scores and score distribution of exam subjects on July 18. That is also the time for candidates to consider changing and adjusting their wishes to majors and schools to ensure the highest admission efficiency.
