Commendation of the elderly with outstanding achievements

On April 23, the City Association of the Elderly celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (May 10, 1995 - May 10, 2025); commended exemplary elderly people in the emulation movement "Old age is a shining example" for the period 2021-2025. Attending were Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Phan Van Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Le Van Trung, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee Tran Thang Loi.

The city currently has 134,325 elderly people, accounting for 11.27% of the population, of which more than 100,000 are members, operating in 1,173 branches. With experience and prestige in society, more than 20,391 elderly people actively participate in building the grassroots political system; 25,000 people directly participate in labor, production and business. In 2024, the association organized free health check-ups for 57,100 people; congratulated and celebrated longevity for 38,475 people; gave gifts to 21,000 members in difficult circumstances. Currently, in the city, there are 391 cultural, artistic, physical education and health clubs, and intergenerational self-help clubs with more than 31,000 members participating, contributing to improving the physical and mental health of the elderly.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 groups and 8 individuals; the City Association of the Elderly commended 9 groups and 12 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Old age - bright example" for the period 2021-2025.
