Opportunity for professional labor welding, profession pattern in the Korean market
The Overseas Labor Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs announces recruitment labor to work in the original industry in Korea under the Korean Foreign Workers Employment Permit System (hereinafter referred to as the EPS program) in 2025.
Program focuses on recruiting skilled workers welding and mold making.
Specifically, for welding, candidates must have been trained in welding/or in a field that provides both theoretical and practical training in welding modules. For mold making, candidates must have been trained in metal cutting, or in fields that provide training in turning, milling, grinding modules, etc., both theoretical and practical.

This selection is within the framework of EPS program - The program is implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of the Interior) and the Ministry of Employment and Labor of Korea. Since 2004, more than 140,000 Vietnamese workers have come to work in Korea under this program.
Accordingly, the Overseas Labor Center (Colab) is a public service unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs assigned to coordinate with the Korean side and Vietnamese agencies and functional units to deploy the selection, training and dispatch of workers.
The Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea) is the agency assigned by the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor to coordinate with the Vietnamese authorities to organize and implement. The organization of recruitment interviews, the creation of vocational skills tests, Korean language tests and the grading of the tests are the responsibility of HRD Korea.

The Overseas Labor Center said that the total number of workers recruited in 2025 is 1,000. Of these, 700 will be recruited for welding and 300 for mold making. There are 4 groups of people who can participate in the selection.
Firstly, students studying welding and mold making at intermediate level or higher at vocational education institutions.
Second, soldiers and police officers discharged from 2024 onwards have been using vocational training cards issued by the Ministry of National Defense upon discharge to study welding and mold making at vocational training institutions.
Third, workers register for recruitment go to work in Korea in the shipbuilding industry whose application has expired but who do not wish to renew their application for this industry and have been trained in occupations (occupations in the list of industries: Mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering; mechanical engineering technology; architectural engineering technology and construction; construction) from intermediate level or higher or have work experience in welding and mold making.
Fourth, workers who have participated in the 2024 Korean language test in the manufacturing industry with a Korean language score of 110-145 points and have been trained in occupations (occupations in the list of occupations: Mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering; mechanical engineering technology; architectural engineering technology and construction; construction) from intermediate level or higher or have work experience related to welding and molding.
Candidates must meet the conditions for selecting workers to participate in the EPS program, including: From 18 to 39 years old (age range from April 1, 1985 to April 13, 2007); no criminal record as prescribed by law; never been deported from Korea; if having resided in Korea (including legal and illegal residence) under E9 visa (EPS worker) or/and E10 visa (fishing boat crew), the residence period must be less than 5 years; not banned from leaving Vietnam; healthy enough to work according to Korean regulations, not color blind, color vision disorder; not suffering from syphilis, tuberculosis, positive for addictive substances.
The application period is from March 31 to April 13, 2025. Candidates will then be interviewed from May 5 to 16, and will participate in vocational training and Korean language training from May 26 to August 24. Selection will take place at the end of August, and the Korean language test will be held in early September so that they can send their application to Korea before September 30.
Students (including soldiers and police officers discharged from 2024 onwards who are studying welding and mold making with vocational training cards issued by the Ministry of National Defense upon discharge from vocational training institutions) can register to participate and submit their application at their place of study.
The subjects are workers who register to work in Korea in the shipbuilding industry; workers who have participated in the 2024 Korean language test in the manufacturing industry and achieved a Korean language score of 110-145 points; soldiers and police officers discharged from 2024 onwards using vocational training cards issued by the Ministry of National Defense upon discharge to study welding and molding and have completed vocational training courses) will register to participate and submit their applications to the Department of Home Affairs of the localities.
Selected candidates must go through 2 rounds of document review and interview. The number of workers who meet the document requirements and participate in the interview round is twice the number of people according to the selection quota. The number of workers who pass the interview round and participate in vocational training and Korean language courses is 1.2 times the number of people according to the selection quota.
Workers who pass the interview round must gather to participate in vocational training and Korean language courses at vocational training facilities selected by HRD Korea in Hanoi and Nghe An.
The two courses are held in parallel, with a total vocational and Korean language training time of 3 months, with 120 hours of vocational training and 300 hours of Korean language training.
After completing vocational and Korean language training, workers must take a selection test (vocational skills test and Korean language interview) conducted by HRD Korea.
Workers who pass the skills test and Korean interview (scoring 120/200 points or higher) will be able to take the Korean proficiency test.
Only those who have a satisfactory Korean proficiency test score (90/200 points or higher) can apply for recruitment to Korean businesses.
If selected, employees will have to pay the following fees.
The cost of vocational training and Korean language course (including the cost of the skill test) for welding is from 9-10 million VND/person, for mold making is from 7-8 million VND/person, paid directly to the training organization.
Korean language training cost is 4,250,000 VND/person.
The registration fee for the Korean language test is equivalent to 28 USD according to Korean regulations.
Workers who pass the Korean proficiency test and are selected by a Korean enterprise to sign a labor contract will have to pay a dispatch fee equivalent to 630 USD, an administrative fee for visa application of 390,000 VND and a deposit of 100 million VND according to general regulations for workers participating in the EPS program.
In addition to the above, employees do not have to pay any other fees.
Workers participating in the program are given priority by the Korean side to be introduced to Korean enterprises in the original industry for selection. The mechanism for introducing documents is implemented according to the regulations of the EPS program. Successful workers are not guaranteed to be able to go to Korea to work.
In case the worker is selected by a Korean enterprise, the labor contract will be signed to work in Korea for a maximum period of 3 years. After the 3-year period, if the Korean enterprise has a need, it will be extended for a maximum of 1 year and 10 months; there is an opportunity to re-enter Korea to work under the EPS program.
Workers receive a basic salary, overtime pay, and insurance according to Korean regulations. In 2025, the basic salary in Korea is 2,096,270 won/month, equivalent to about 38 million VND at the current exchange rate.
Currently, the Bilateral Agreement on social insurance between Vietnam and Korea has officially come into effect. Therefore, Vietnamese workers working in Korea (including workers under the EPS program) will have their participation time combined and their social insurance benefits calculated when working in this market. Thereby, ensuring retirement benefits have been recognized according to the laws of Vietnam and Korea. In 2024 alone, the Korean market attracted more than 13,600 Vietnamese workers to work . |
