About the content of the letter with the theme "Imagine you are the ocean"
This year's contest prompt: "IMAGINE YOU ARE THE OCEAN. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you."
This is a good, topical topic, the content can be expanded or go into specific details. With this topic, candidates can freely develop their imagination and knowledge; at the same time, they also have the opportunity to express their thoughts and recommendations to protect and sustainably care for the ocean environment.
The theme of the contest is associated with the goal of "Conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources" in the system of 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
With this topic, students need to understand what the ocean is and be able to present the basics of the current ocean situation, and present pressing issues, the most prominent of which is marine pollution. The contest entry can provide an overview of the current pollution situation, or delve into one aspect, the impact of the pollution problem, for example the risk of losing rare marine species due to pollution, shrinking coral reefs, etc. Most importantly, students need to express their thoughts on this situation and propose possible solutions to improve the situation.
The essay asks "imagine you are the ocean", but candidates can assume they are the entire ocean, or a part or component that lives in the ocean, has a direct relationship in the ocean ecosystem, for example an individual turtle, for example a particularly polluted sea area...
Regarding the outline of the letter, in the opening part, there needs to be a greeting and an introduction to the person you will choose to embody "who I am".
The letterhead also needs to have a recipient. This recipient must be someone who shares with you, has the ability to widely convey the message of the letter, or is someone who has the ability to strongly influence society, has the ability to make decisions to improve the issues that the letter will mention. The recipient can also be a representative of a force that plays an important role in the sustainable development of the ocean, such as environmental protection organizations, the United Nations, world youth...
The body of the letter needs to have an introduction to the issue to be written about. In this part, students need to fully address the content such as the reason for writing the letter; the current situation, personal thoughts, solutions to protect the ocean sustainably. The letter needs to have a message when you choose the character to impersonate and that message will be sent in this content section....
At the end of the letter, you should wish the recipient a good day, summarize the message, and express your hopes for the future. At the end of the letter, you should include phrases expressing your feelings such as respect, affection, love, etc. The author should also sign at this end.
