On the morning of May 29 (April 22 of the lunar calendar), at Thanh Ha Pagoda, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Thanh Hoa province held a memorial service to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the passing of Most Venerable Thich Thanh Cam, former Head of the Executive Committee of the VBS in Thanh Hoa province.

Attending the memorial ceremony were Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch, Chairman of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Comrade Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; Venerables of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee; Venerables of the Buddhist Executive Committees of districts, towns and cities in the province and neighboring provinces.
Most Venerable Thich Tam Dinh, member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Sangha, presented the biography of the late Most Venerable Thich Thanh Cam.
The Great Elder Monk Thich Thanh Cam, whose secular name is Tran Thanh Cam, was born in the year of Binh Ngo (1918) in Hai Trung commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province. At the age of 8, his elder brother, the Venerable Thich Thanh Khai, abbot of Quang Hoa pagoda, allowed him to become a Buddhist monk and was given the Dharma name Thanh Cam and the Dharma name Chinh Hoa to continue the orthodox Lam Te Dharma lineage.
Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch and President of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, spoke at the memorial service.
In 1930, the Venerable Master received the novice precepts from his Master at the ordination platform of Diep Pagoda, Nghe An Province. After five months of diligently studying, practicing, and cultivating virtue, in 1938, the Venerable Master assigned him the important responsibility of being the abbot of Gia Dau Pagoda, Hoang Phuong Commune, Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province.
In 1983, at the request of the church to prepare for the development and establishment of the Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province, the Venerable was invited to preside over Thanh Ha pagoda and on November 1, 1984 was elected as Head of the Buddhist Representative Board of Thanh Hoa province.
When he returned to receive Thanh Ha pagoda, which was then an old and dilapidated pagoda, the Venerable Monk and his disciples rebuilt it from scratch.

In 1992, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Representative Board was upgraded to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Executive Board, and the Venerable was elected as the Head of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Executive Board. The Venerable always set a shining example in leading monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the province, strictly implementing the motto of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha "Dharma - Nation - Socialism".
For many consecutive years, the Venerable was trusted by the people, organizations, and the government to be elected and elected to many political and social organizations. He was a member of the Hoang Hoa District Fatherland Front Committee for 6 consecutive terms; a delegate of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council, a delegate of the 8th Provincial People's Council, a member of the Executive Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Red Cross Society for the 4th term, and a member of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Fatherland Front Committee for the 9th term.
For his contributions to religion and the nation, the Venerable was awarded the Third Class Medal of Resistance Against America for National Salvation by the State and many other certificates of merit.
The delegates and all monks, nuns and Buddhists respectfully offered incense to express gratitude for the great contributions of the late Venerable Thich Thanh Cam.
Due to old age and weak health, Venerable Thich Thanh Cam passed away at 5:43 p.m. on June 1, 1994 (April 22, Giap Tuat year). However, his virtues and virtues will forever remain in the hearts and memories of monks, nuns, Buddhists and the people of Thanh Hoa province.
Up to now, the VBS in Thanh Hoa province has completed 40 years, with the contributions of the Executive Committee over the years, the collective Executive Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President and many individuals were awarded certificates of merit. The achievements that Thanh Hoa Buddhism has achieved in the past time are based on the foundation that the monk built from the beginning.
At the memorial ceremony, delegates and all monks, nuns and Buddhists respectfully offered incense to express gratitude for the great contributions of the late Most Venerable Thich Thanh Cam to the Dharma and the nation.
