(GLO)- During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once said: "Youth is the backbone of the country, the future owner of the country, the vanguard force in building and defending the Fatherland". Keeping in mind his teachings, the youth of the provincial Border Guard have launched many emulation movements with the goal of firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security and taking care of the lives of people in border areas.
Talking to us about the emulation movements of the unit's youth, Lieutenant Hoang Minh Hai - Youth Assistant of the Provincial Border Guard Command - said: Based on the actual situation of the unit, the Provincial Border Guard Youth Union has promoted propaganda and education to raise awareness for cadres, union members and youth according to the plan, instructions from superiors and implementation of patriotic emulation movements. Along with that, it focuses on training working methods and styles for Youth Union cadres; enhancing creativity, responsibility, exemplary vanguard spirit, closeness to the grassroots and political mettle, ideological stance, determination in performing tasks of union members and youth.
Implementing emulation movements, the youth of the provincial Border Guard have concretized them with meaningful and practical programs and models such as: "Helping children go to school", "Adopted children of the Border Guard Station", "Green house collecting recycled waste", "Border Guard scissors", "Youth branch without cadres, union members, or youths smoking", "Youth branch without cadres, union members, or youths violating discipline and law"... These programs and models have contributed significantly to helping cadres, union members, and youths have a correct understanding of their roles and responsibilities in carrying out central political tasks and focusing on taking care of the lives of people in border areas.

With the emulation movement to win, the youth union members of the provincial Border Guard force are always proactive and creative in implementing the unit's tasks, organizing patrols, controlling and protecting territorial sovereignty, borders and landmarks. Along with that, the Youth Union organization advises the Party committees and commanders at all levels to effectively deploy measures to combat and prevent border crossing activities, proactively grasp the internal and external border situation, the local situation, subjects, and fight against all types of crimes. From October 2022 to present, the youth of the provincial Border Guard force has been the main force in detecting and arresting 9 cases with 6 subjects illegally transporting goods, seizing evidence including: more than 1,263 kg of various types of firecrackers, 4,750 packs of cigarettes, 72 liters of herbicides; discovered and arrested 2 cases with 3 subjects illegally buying, storing, and using explosives, seized 11.9 kg of explosives, 229 detonators, and 18.69 m of slow-burning wire.
In particular, in the movement "All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation", the youth of the provincial Border Guard have well implemented the motto "Going to every house, checking every alley, meeting every person" to propagate and mobilize people to comply with the provisions of the law; launching the movement of all people to protect national security. Up to now, on the border of the province, there are 66 self-management groups with 416 members.

In addition, the Provincial Border Guard Youth Union also implemented many practical and meaningful programs such as "Spring Border Guard warms the hearts of the villagers", "The Army joins hands to build new rural areas". Thereby, the Border Guard youth coordinated with the local Youth Union to clear and clean 14 km of inter-village roads; repaired 10 houses for the people; examined and gave free medicine to 100 people... The Provincial Border Guard Youth Union also coordinated with volunteer organizations to present 100 national flags to households in the border area; presented 2 water purifiers to the Border Guard station; presented 100 gifts (VND 400,000/gift) and 10 scholarships (VND 1 million/gift) to children of Border Guard officers and soldiers in difficult circumstances; presented 1,000 notebooks to children and presented 25 solar lamps to residential areas...
Assessing the emulation movements of the unit's youth, Colonel Nguyen Van Nghi - Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command - said: The youth union members make up the majority of the unit. Therefore, the emulation movements have created positive changes in the awareness and actions of each youth union member, thereby contributing to helping the unit perform well its assigned tasks. In particular, through the emulation movements, the youth of the Provincial Border Guard have contributed to firmly protecting the national border security and sovereignty, caring for people's lives, and supporting localities in building new rural areas.
