Since receiving the first container into the port on May 13, 2018, TC-HICT has undergone many remarkable developments. Currently, the port is receiving 15 regular service routes every week, including 7 trans-Pacific service routes directly to the US, 3 Indian service routes and other intra-Asian service routes. With newly invested, modern and advanced facilities and equipment. With a modern and intelligent information technology system, TC-HICT has become the leading port in Hai Phong in terms of cargo throughput and has always maintained that position.
In 2023, freight transport, especially maritime transport across the region, will continue to face many difficulties and challenges due to the economic recession. Along with that, the tightening of spending in many countries has caused a decrease in demand for Vietnam's exports. Many major economies, including Vietnam's trading partners and important exporting countries, have slowed down. Competition for seaport services in the Hai Phong area is increasingly fierce.

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Hai Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Members of TC-HICT said: “In the face of common market difficulties, TC-HICT has promoted the implementation of flexible solutions, especially in customer care and improving operational efficiency, ensuring productivity and service quality. One of the solutions we have applied is to improve fast loading and unloading productivity, shortening the time the ship is at the wharf, which has helped increase operational efficiency for shipping lines.”
Thanks to that, in May 2023, TC-HICT achieved a record in receiving 62 ships entering and leaving the port. By July 2023, the port achieved a record in cargo handling productivity with 126 moves/hour, exceeding the average productivity of 120 moves/hour; in October 2023, the port throughput reached 144,200 TEU, exceeding the design capacity, an increase of 46% compared to the expected plan and the highest output in 1 month since it came into operation. TC-HICT Port has become the leading port in Hai Phong in terms of cargo throughput, accounting for 19% of the market share of ports in Hai Phong, affirming its potential and outstanding strengths in the field of seaport exploitation.

Mr. Shotaro Ikeda, General Director of Ocean Network Express Vietnam Co., Ltd. (ONE) said: “Our company ONE started its business in April 2018, which is also the year TC-HICT opened. Since its inception, we have wanted to call at ports in Northern Vietnam on the direct route to the United States. As one of our good business partners, we really want to cooperate with TC-HICT to further develop in Northern Vietnam. I believe other shipping lines have the same thoughts as me; we are really satisfied with the results achieved and always believe in the strong cooperation in the future between the two sides.”
Over the past 5 years, in Lach Huyen area, TC-HICT port has promoted the internal strength of seaports and logistics to raise its position, creating a breakthrough for local economic development. Hai Phong has now welcomed mother ships with a capacity of up to 145,000 DWT going directly to America, becoming an international transit hub and a modern logistics center of Southeast Asia. The TC-HICT event for the second consecutive year, the 1 millionth TEU passing through the port, has demonstrated the outstanding development potential of Lach Huyen area in particular and Hai Phong seaport in general.

Implementing the Government's direction on promoting digital transformation, ports in the Hai Phong area are gradually applying many technologies to port operations. In 2024, TC-HICT will synchronously apply new technologies across the entire system such as: Automatic gate software (Smartgate) at the gate area, electronic license plate scanning system at the yard area or smart inspection point at the wharf area... The port will strive to research more new technology options to become a smart, modern port.
TC-HICT has been creating the premise for Hai Phong to continue to build the next ports in Lach Huyen area while maximizing the advantages, developing the marine economy, contributing to promoting the industrialization and modernization of the country. To maintain the brand and achieve the set goals, TC-HICT will make breakthroughs, improve, maintain market share and increase the competitive advantage of the unit, continue to implement the motto "constantly innovate, expand investment, connect the system, improve competitiveness, and do business effectively".
