Exciting traditional festival of Lanh Giang temple in 2024

On the morning of July 7 (June 2 of the lunar calendar), the 2024 Lanh Giang Temple Traditional Festival took place in Moc Nam commune, Duy Tien town. The festival has become a long-standing custom of the local people, recently attracting a large number of tourists from all over the province and outside to attend, creating a jubilant and exciting atmosphere in the hearts of the people.

Lanh Giang Temple is called “Lanh Giang Linh Tu” or “The Third Great Official Temple” in Chinese characters. The annual Lanh Giang Temple Festival is held to commemorate the great contributions of the Three Great Officials who assisted King Hung in defeating the enemy and to show gratitude for the contributions of Chu Dong Tu and his wife, Tien Dung; to honor and show gratitude to the sages, saints, and national heroes who have contributed to the people and the country.

The main festival of Lanh Giang Temple this year takes place from July 5 to July 9 (from May 30 to June 4 of the lunar calendar).

The ceremony includes rituals such as the Proclamation Ceremony, the Opening Ceremony of the Festival, the Water Procession Ceremony from the Red River to the Temple according to the Water God worshiping custom; the Palanquin Procession Ceremony and the Opening Ceremony of the Festival.

This year's festival includes cultural activities to celebrate the festival, opening the electronic information portal of Lanh Giang temple, fireworks and folk games such as: walking on the monkey bridge on land, blindfolded pot smashing, tug of war, men's stick pushing,...
