On April 8, the 35th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup National Cycling Race - 2023 "Non Song Lien Mot Dai - Niem Tin Chien Thang" HTV - Ton Dong A took place in the 6th stage of the Truong Tien - Phu Xuan circuit (Hue City).
The short race, flat track, and cool weather in Hue City were good conditions for the racers to show off their talents. Right from the moment the referee raised the starting flag, the racers launched strong attacks, creating small breaks in the group, but the Loc Troi Group and Gao Hat Ngoc Troi teams still controlled the game to protect the yellow jersey for Russian foreign racer Petr Rikunov.
In the final laps, the riders from Loc Troi Group and Gao Hat Ngoc Troi actively pulled the large group to the finish line to compete in the sprint. Near the finish line, Russian foreigner Petr Rikunov attacked strongly and was the first to sprint. Tran Tuan Kiet (Dopagan Dong Thap) was at a disadvantage but managed to rush forward and make a perfect push to pass Petr Rikunov, winning the stage by a hair's breadth. Petr Rikunov finished second and his teammate Nguyen Tan Hoai finished third.
Racer Tran Tuan Kiet overtook Yellow Jersey Petr Rikunov in the final meters, excellently winning stage 6.
Winning 3 out of 6 stages, the racer from the land of lotus officially took the Green Jersey title - sprint king from Russian foreigner Petr Rikunov and created a 2-point gap compared to this racer (64 compared to 62).
Despite losing the green jersey, Russian foreigner Petr Rikunov still retained the prestigious yellow jersey after 6 stages with a gap of 34 seconds over second-placed racer Pham Le Xuan Loc (Military Zone 7).
18-year-old racer Pham Le Xuan Loc continued to successfully defend the White Jersey title for the best young racer and the Orange Jersey – impressive athlete for the Vietnamese racer with the best results on the individual rankings.

On April 9, racers competed in stage 7 from Hue City to Da Nang City, 108.5 km long with 3 passes: Phuoc Tuong, Phu Gia and Hai Van.
