President Ho Chi Minh's ideology of international solidarity: inspiration for current Vietnam-China foreign relations

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) - Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just coordinated with the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences (China) to organize an international scientific conference with the theme "Ho Chi Minh - For a world of peace, friendship and development". The conference attracted the participation of many domestic and international scientists. This is an activity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said: President Ho Chi Minh is not only a great leader of Vietnam but also a comrade in arms of many international revolutionaries. His life and ideology are a precious legacy, constantly fighting for global peace and friendship. He affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh's legacy needs to be studied more deeply in the current context, when peace and development are still facing many challenges.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu, Head of the Faculty of Political Science (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), emphasized the special nature of the conference as it took place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's arrival in Guangzhou (November 11, 1924 - November 11, 2024). In Guangzhou, he not only expanded his international vision but also created the ideological foundation for the Vietnamese national liberation revolution and inspired the liberation movement of oppressed peoples around the world.

With more than 90 presentations from domestic and foreign scholars, this conference provided an in-depth look at many aspects of President Ho Chi Minh's thought, including: peace and sustainable development, international solidarity and peaceful diplomatic strategy. The featured presentations also studied President Ho Chi Minh's ideological contributions to the issue of international conflict resolution and his philosophy of peace in the current world context.

Professor Hoang Tranh, former Vice President of the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, commented: "During the time of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in China, the achievements in aspects such as theory, journalism, and literature have enriched the treasure trove of President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, and established his historical position as a "cultural celebrity". He emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh was a great revolutionary of the proletariat and at the same time a cultural celebrity. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in its 1987 Conference resolution honored President Ho Chi Minh as "Hero of National Liberation and Outstanding Cultural Celebrity".

Professor Phung Huu Phu, former Permanent Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council, commented that President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on peace are profound, with the foundation being equality and mutual respect. He affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was a fighter for true and genuine peace. The values ​​of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts for a world of peace, friendship and development are great thoughts that have been valuable for nearly a century and will forever be valuable to the Vietnamese people and to humanity.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Dinh Phong (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics) also highly appreciated the practical value of Ho Chi Minh's thought on national strength and the combination of modern strength. He said that in the context of global fluctuations, this thought on combination has a profound current significance, demonstrating solidarity and harmony among nations for peace and progress.

Dr. Vi Le Xuan from the Institute of Vietnamese Studies, Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, highly appreciated President Ho Chi Minh's ideology of international solidarity. She said this is the inspiration for the current Vietnam-China foreign relations.

At the end of the workshop, delegates assessed that the workshop was not only an international academic exchange forum but also an important stepping stone for long-term cooperation opportunities between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, continuing to strengthen the Vietnam-China friendship that President Ho Chi Minh had worked hard to cultivate.
