From a poor province, Quang Nam has grown to have a source of revenue to distribute to the Central Government.

The ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the province's liberation (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Quang Nam Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025) was held on the evening of March 24 in Quang Nam.

Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, said that from a predominantly agricultural economy with fragmented and backward agricultural production, more than 50% of households were poor; industry and tourism were almost non-existent; budget revenue was only over 150 billion VND in the first year of re-establishing the province (1997), Quang Nam continuously rose with impressive development steps.

Since 2017, Quang Nam has officially transferred domestic revenue to the Central Government. In 2024, the total economic revenue in the area will reach more than 27,600 billion VND (217 times higher than in 1997), the economic scale will be more than 129 trillion VND, and the average income per capita will be more than 84 million VND.

The economic structure has shifted strongly towards industry and services. People's lives have been constantly improved, and the poverty rate has decreased rapidly.

In particular, from a purely agricultural province, Quang Nam now has Chu Lai Open Economic Zone with the largest automobile manufacturing and assembly center and mechanical industry in the country; Chu Lai airport has been put into effective operation and is planned to become a 4F international airport, and a seaport planned to be class 1 to receive 50,000-ton ships.

The province has 14 industrial parks and more than 50 industrial clusters in operation with many large investors, attracting more than 6.2 billion USD in foreign investment and hundreds of thousands of billions of VND in domestic investment, creating jobs for more than 113,000 workers.

Infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, is developed synchronously, including airports, seaports, railways, roads, and international border gates connecting regions. Tourism and services develop rapidly. The start-up and innovation movement spreads widely.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, praised the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam have achieved.

However, Mr. Nghia said that the road ahead still has many difficulties and challenges; requiring the locality to look to the future with new efforts, determination and aspirations.

"I believe that Quang Nam will continue to promote its cultural identity and glorious revolutionary tradition, make the most of its potential and advantages, focus on accelerating and making breakthroughs in all fields to build and develop its homeland in a comprehensive, modern, sustainable direction and become a model for the whole country," Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.
