(NLDO)- A high school student in Dong Nai loaned money to his friend at an interest rate 12-28 times higher.
On February 8, Phu Lap Commune Police (Tan Phu District, Dong Nai Province) filed an administrative violation case against a student who committed loan sharking in the area.
Police agencies disseminate the law to students and parents involved in the loan sharking case.
Previously, on January 13, after a high school in the area reported signs of students engaging in loan sharking, Phu Lap Commune Police stepped in to verify.
Initially, the police determined that PTH (born in 2007) lent a total of 17 million VND to two students: H.D.H. (born in 2006) and PVHP (born in 2006, both residing in Ta Lai commune) with an interest rate 12-28 times higher than the current regulations. PTH illegally profited more than 10 million VND.
During the extended investigation, the police discovered that PTH borrowed 7 million VND from D.TAK (born in 2008, residing in Phu Lap commune) and D.TAK earned more than 400,000 VND (not exceeding 5 times the highest interest rate according to the provisions of the 2015 Civil Code).
With this borrowed money, PTH lent it to his classmates at a higher interest rate to make a profit.
The total amount of illegal profits of PTH is less than 30 million VND, so he will not be prosecuted criminally but only punished for administrative violations.
