From May 3, Bien Hoa city may stop receiving household waste due to debt of 48 billion VND for waste treatment.

(DN) - Bien Hoa city will reduce the amount of domestic waste received from 390 tons/day to 200 tons/day from April 20 and will stop receiving domestic waste from the city from May 3 due to too much debt, the waste treatment unit no longer has operating funds.

According to Document No. 252/SDV-KXLQT dated April 14, 2025 of Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company, Bien Hoa city currently owes the company nearly 48 billion VND for domestic waste treatment in 2021, 2024 and the first months of 2025.

Because the debt is too large while the company has to pay many amounts to suppliers of materials and services, employee salaries and other operating expenses. Therefore, the company requests the People's Committee of Bien Hoa City, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the City Public Service Management Board to quickly pay the debt to the company.

In case by April 20, the company has not received the 2021 waste payment policy, has not signed the winning contract for 2024 as well as the contract in principle for 2025, the company is required to reduce the volume of domestic waste received from 390 tons/day to 200 tons/day. By May 3, if the payment policy has not been received, the company will stop receiving waste for the city.

Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company is the investor of Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area (Thong Nhat District), currently receiving and treating domestic waste for 8 districts and cities, including Bien Hoa city.
