From January 2, how can passengers use metro line 1 with an app, ID card or Mastercard?

Urban Railway Company No. 1 informs about the re-deployment of the automatic ticket collection and contactless payment system on metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) from January 2, 2025.

According to the Urban Railway Company No. 1, the re-deployment of the automatic ticket collection and contactless payment system serves to collect production statistics as required by the authorities. At the same time, it helps people have time to get familiar with the operation of the metro line and build the habit of using convenient public transport. Passengers can easily use the app, citizen identification card or Mastercard to travel on metro line No. 1.

Specifically, city residents and tourists can choose the following methods to take metro line 1 as follows:

Using QR code on HCMC Metro HURC app: Customers download HCMC Metro HURC app on their phone and create QR code to take the train.

In case of using a bank card when taking the train, from January 2, 2025 to January 9, 2025, passengers who already have a Mastercard can bring it along to experience the free digital metro service without having to register to create a card.

Customers who do not have a Mastercard need to bring their citizen ID, chip-based ID or VNeID application to receive support for quick card opening directly through the bank counters of Sacombank, Vikky Go, BIDV, TPBank, MB, MSB, VPBank, VIB... at the station.

In the coming days, the management and operation units of metro line 1 will coordinate with related units to arrange staff and volunteers at stations to support all passenger needs.

Customers are starting to get used to using metro line 1.

Metro Line No. 1 LLC reported that from December 22 to December 26, 467,565 passengers took Metro Line No. 1, with nearly 1,000 trains running. By the morning of December 27, many passengers were excited to choose Metro Line No. 1 to go to school and work, which is both convenient and suitable for their schedules.
