The fine traditions and outstanding achievements of the Vietnamese Electricity industry over the past 70 years are an important premise and a valuable spiritual medicine that strongly inspires generations of cadres and employees of Thanh Hoa Electricity Company to strive for the beloved electricity of the Fatherland.
Proud of the tradition of the electricity industry
On December 21, 1954, Uncle Ho visited the Bo Ho Lamp Factory and advised the staff: “This factory now belongs to the people, to the government, to you. You are the owners, so you must preserve the factory and make it develop further.” This event became a historical milestone and a traditional day for the Vietnamese electricity industry.

Nearly 70 years since Uncle Ho visited, his teachings are still remembered by generations of electricity sector cadres. With the spirit of "The Fatherland needs electricity as the body needs blood", cadres and employees of the electricity sector have been united, brave, and creative in production and combat, striving every day so that "the electricity never goes out" to serve the increasingly strong development of the country. From the time of taking over from the old regime, the power system capacity in the North at the end of 1954 was only 31.5 MW, to date the power system has ranked 2nd in Southeast Asia, 23rd in the world, in which the power source capacity owned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) is more than 30,000 MW and the power grid system extends throughout the country, ensuring electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's lives.
In recognition of its contributions over the past 70 years, the electricity industry has been honored to receive many noble awards such as: Gold Star Medal, Labor Hero, Ho Chi Minh Medal... Promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition, the Vietnam Electricity industry continues to make positive and effective contributions to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, contributing to building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Proud to be a part of the history in the proud construction and development process of Vietnam's electricity industry, in 1964, Ham Rong Thermal Power Plant, now Thanh Hoa Electricity Company under the Northern Electricity Corporation with a capacity of 3,000kW was officially inaugurated.
Born during the war and bombs, after 60 years of construction and development, generations of cadres, workers and employees of Thanh Hoa electricity industry have overcome all hardships and sacrifices during the war, difficulties and challenges during the period of national reconstruction, bravely and steadfastly maintained the electricity, served production and combat, excellently completed all assigned tasks, made important contributions to the cause of building and protecting the homeland and country, contributing to further embellishing the fine traditions of heroic Thanh Hoa.
The power grid system in Thanh Hoa province has been invested in synchronously and modernly, meeting the needs of local socio-economic development.
In the early days of its establishment, Thanh Hoa province's power grid had 10 transformer stations; 100km of 35, 22, 10 and 6kV lines; 60km of 0.4kV lines. Up to now, the power lines in Thanh Hoa province have been connected to the national power grid, bringing electricity to all localities in the province. With more than 1,500 officers, employees and workers always united and working creatively, Thanh Hoa Power Company has built a modern power grid system with a scale of managing and operating 28 110kV substations with 67 lines with a total length of 1,084.78km; 251 medium voltage lines with a total length of 7,453.31 km and 12,947.8 km of low voltage lines ensure safe and stable operation to meet the electricity demand of more than 851 thousand electricity customers in Thanh Hoa province. The load consumption capacity is always among the top companies in the Northern Power Corporation.

In 2023, the company's total commercial electricity output will reach over 7,102 million kWh, an increase of 4.62% over the same period in 2022. In particular, some power units have high growth rates compared to the same period such as: Quan Hoa, Muong Lat, Lang Chanh, Nhu Thanh - Nhu Xuan area; total revenue will reach over 12,779 billion VND, 0.92% higher than the plan and an increase of 8.61% over the same period in 2022. The actual electricity loss rate will reach 3.35%, down 0.85% of the annual plan and down 0.31% over the same period. The rate of customers paying electricity bills without using cash will reach 93.18%, up 2.05% over the plan and up 1.13% over the same period.

Entering 2024, as of October of the year, the company's commercial electricity output reached 6,540.29 million kWh, with a power loss of 3.76%, 0.58% lower than the same period and 0.21% lower than the 2024 plan; the rate of customers paying without cash in the whole province reached over 96%. Regarding incidents, safety, reliability of electricity supply, inspection and supervision of electricity purchase and sale, average electricity price, production and business of electricity services and a number of other fields, all achieved and exceeded the targets assigned by the Corporation.
Implementing the development directions and directions of Vietnam Electricity Group, Northern Power Corporation, Thanh Hoa Power Company has gradually modernized the power grid to improve the reliability of power supply; built a professional business environment to improve the quality of business and customer service; promoted the application of information technology, digital transformation, ... to improve efficiency in production and business. Increased investment in upgrading and expanding the power grid to ensure power supply, meeting the requirements of local socio-economic development.

Along with the development of the common home of Vietnam Electricity Group and Northern Power Corporation, during the investment and construction of the 500kV line project, circuit 3 from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen), Thanh Hoa is a locality with a long line scale (131 km/519km), a large number of foundations and columns (299 locations, 137 anchorages), with 3 component projects: Thanh Hoa 500kV Transformer Station Project; Nam Dinh 1 - Thanh Hoa Thermal Power Plant 500kV Line Project; The 500kV Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa transmission line project, passing through 11 districts, towns, 62 communes, wards and townships, has 63.9 hectares of land of all kinds being recovered, affecting more than 1,840 households (of which 93 households have residential land and houses subject to resettlement, and must be arranged with 143 residential plots).
With the drastic participation of the entire political system, the efforts and hard work day and night of the cadres, workers and employees of the electricity industry in general and the "orange soldiers" of Thanh Hoa, a miracle has been achieved in infrastructure investment and construction when completing the energization of the 500kV Circuit 3 Transmission Line Project after more than 6 months of construction.
In difficult times, humanity always shines, facing the extremely serious consequences caused by storm No. 3 on the power grid system of the northern provinces, along with focusing human and material resources to quickly overcome the incident, to restore power to all customers in the province, Thanh Hoa Electricity Company sent 3 shock teams with 60 officers and employees to support Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces to urgently overcome the incident, restore power to the people as soon as possible, contributing to stabilizing the lives and activities of the people after the storm.
On the basis of inheriting and promoting traditional values, today, the collective leadership, officers, employees and workers in Thanh Hoa Electricity Company continue to maintain solidarity, raise determination, create a new wind, maximize collective strength to work with the whole industry to further enhance the image and reputation, brand as a reliable, professional, friendly and devoted partner to customers, responsible to the community and society, thereby needing to make more efforts to fulfill its mission: Ensuring adequate and safe power supply, contributing significantly to the goal of socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security, improving people's lives in Thanh Hoa province in particular and the whole country in general.
Reviewing the 70-year tradition of the electricity industry makes us proud of what our ancestors have worked hard to build. This is also a reminder for every cadre and employee of the electricity industry to constantly strive and be creative, contributing to writing the glorious history of the Vietnam Electricity industry.
