Need to recruit 300 more engineering bachelors and aeronautical engineers
This afternoon, March 5, in Hanoi, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH) with Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines), Vietnam Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO) signed a cooperation agreement on the aviation engineering training program for the period 2024 - 2026.
During the discussion before the signing ceremony, representatives of participating businesses shared some information about the demand for aviation technical human resources in the coming period.
USTH University and Vietnam Airlines, VAECO signed a cooperation agreement on aviation engineering training program for the period 2024 - 2026
According to Mr. Pham Minh Hiep, Deputy General Director of VAECO, with the current situation of aviation service exploitation, within the next 2 years, this enterprise needs to recruit at least 300 more technical staff. In particular, after Long Thanh airport is put into operation (according to the Government's plan, Long Thanh airport will be completed in 2026), the demand for recruiting aviation technical staff will increase sharply.
Therefore, VAECO will actively cooperate more extensively with domestic and foreign universities to have more high-quality human resources for the aviation engineering industry, also preparing human resources for this forecasted growth demand.
Cooperation model helps "save" 3 years of study
Mr. Hiep also highly appreciated the cooperation model between VAECO, Vietnam Airlines and USTH. According to him, training engineers and high-tech staff to serve the aviation industry is very difficult. Normally, engineers and aviation technicians have to study for 5 years at university. After that, VAECO trains students for another 2 years to have basic aircraft maintenance certificates at levels B1, B2 (VAECO is the only organization approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to train and issue B1, B2 certificates in Vietnam).
Mr. Pham Minh Hiep, Deputy General Director of VAECO, spoke at the signing ceremony.
USTH is the only university in Vietnam that has a cooperation agreement with VAECO on B1 and B2 training. Accordingly, after 4 years of being a USTH student, you will have both a university degree and a B1 and B2 certificate.
"Thus, compared to students of similar training programs at other universities, USTH students save 3 years of training time. This model is very useful for companies, students, and at the same time saves costs for society," said Mr. Hiep.
Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said that the field of aircraft repair and maintenance is very special. Aviation technicians must work in a highly disciplined environment, requiring extremely strict discipline, foreign language proficiency, and professional skills to ensure absolute safety.

Therefore, this is a field that requires high quality human resources. Cooperation between aviation enterprises and universities in training not only meets the strong growth needs of the aviation market but also helps students accumulate more experience, helping them to rub against the real environment, and early access to new technology.
The Aeronautical Engineering Program at USTH was established in 2018 with financial support from Airbus Group; comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam Airlines, VAECO, French Aerospace Institute (IAS/Bricks) and the Alliance of more than 30 prestigious French universities and research institutes for the development of USTH (USTH Consortium).
USTH, Vietnam Airlines and VAECO have officially signed the first cooperation agreement on opening aviation training programs at USTH, including bachelor's degree in aviation engineering and master's degree in international air transport management.
Up to now, USTH has had 6 courses of bachelor's degree in aviation engineering and 3 courses of master's degree in international air transport management.
