Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan takes office as Head of the Vocal Department of the National Academy of Music at the age of 42.

On the afternoon of May 8, 2024 in Hanoi, Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan was awarded Decision No. 591/QD-HVANQGVN by the Board of Directors of the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VAM) to appoint him as Head of the Vocal Department of the Academy from May 6, 2024.

On the day of taking on the new responsibility, Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan shared: “The Vocal Music Department has a great position and social prestige because it not only does a good job in training but also develops very strongly in the performance field. In the new position, I am both honored to be trusted and feel a lot of pressure.

Right now, I do not dare to promise what I can do during my 5-year term, but I promise that I will try my best with the teachers to continue to develop the Faculty of Vocal Music in line with the general development of the school in the new period, reaching further in the current international integration process. I hope to receive the support and consensus of the teachers of the Faculty, of the Vietnam National Academy of Music to unite and bring the Faculty of Vocal Music, the Vietnam National Academy of Music to further develop.

At the Decision awarding ceremony, People's Artist Bui Cong Duy - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music expressed: “This is good news for the school, and at the same time, good news for the Vocal Music Department. The Vocal Music Department is the pride of many generations of famous artists. Through many years of development, we have always dreamed of building a standard industry. The difference of the Vietnam National Academy of Music is that it is made by outstanding people, leaving values ​​for the next generation. We continue to develop, inherit and pass on to the next generation.

In her new role, artist Tan Nhan will certainly have more difficulties as she is both an artist, a lecturer and an industry leader, and will always receive attention from society. Hopefully, artist Tan Nhan will steadfastly overcome difficulties so that the Faculty of Vocal Music can have a new path of further development.

People's Artist Quoc Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the National Academy of Music also spoke at the ceremony to hand over the decision to the Head of the Vocal Department to Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan: "I am very happy that the Board of Directors has given the great responsibility to artist Tan Nhan - to become the Head of the Vocal Department of the National Academy of Music. The Vocal Department has a long history of strong development in both training and performance. We can be proud because we are on the right path, the plan has been set for many years".

Regarding the new Head of the Vocal Department of Tan Nhan, People's Artist Quoc Hung commented: “Tan Nhan was appointed to the position of Head of the Department at a young age, with the strength of daring to think, daring to do and being very decisive. Dynamism and determination to act are what I support in Tan Nhan taking on this position and responsibility. I hope that, in the role of leader of the Vocal Department, Tan Nhan will accompany the Board of Directors and HVANQGVN to continue to promote its strengths, always unite and be creative so that the Department will become stronger and stronger with the continuous development of the Vietnam National Academy of Music. I believe and hope that Tan Nhan will do well in his duties.”

Present at the ceremony to hand over the decision to appoint the head of the Vocal Department of Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan, singer Ngoc Cham confided to PV Dan Viet her pride and emotion: "For me, Tan Nhan possesses both aspects. Not only is she a talented performing artist, she is also a person with a management mindset, daring to act, willing to put aside her celebrity ego for the common good of the collective. When I heard that Tan Nhan was trusted by the school's leadership to take on this important responsibility, I was happy because I believed that she deserved it more than anyone else."

Having worked with Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan for many years, singer Ngoc Cham said that the female artist has repeatedly limited her outside work to focus on the work of the faculty, even though she is a famous performing artist and always receives many invitations to perform.

"I love Tan Nhan because she is a real person and devoted to her work, family, and friends. Perhaps that is what creates her personality and identity" - Ngoc Cham affirmed.

Dr. Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan was born in 1982 in Ha Nam. After graduating with a Master's degree in Classical Chamber Music, Tan Nhan became a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, achieved a PhD in 2019, and was appointed Deputy Head of the Vocal Music Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music since 2017.

During her singing career, she won first prize in the Folk Music category at the Sao Mai contest in 2005. In 2019, the female singer impressed with her own live show called Tro ve.

After nearly 20 years of singing, Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan has released many solo albums that have been well received by audiences, such as: Crescent Moon, Spring Rain, Spring Train Road, Yem Dao Xuong Pho, Niu Dai Lua Dao... In 2023, Tan Nhan was on the list of 42 artists to receive the title of Meritorious Artist awarded by the State.
