According to a VNA correspondent in Moscow, in a live program on July 19 of Channel 1, political scientist - former State Duma (lower house) deputy of Russia Vyacheslav Nikonov sent his deep condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam. Political scientist Nikonov called General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong a "great friend of Russia", emphasizing that: "He was truly a great friend of our country and a person who had a great influence on the successful development of relations between the two countries. I would like to deeply remember comrade Nguyen Phu Trong".
The Communist Youth Komssomol Truth page highlights that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has achieved the greatest achievements in the economic, political and social fields, ensuring a stable growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Sharing this view, the Japanese press believes that Vietnam's most outstanding achievements during the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are high economic growth, enhanced position in the international arena, and a policy of "comprehensive, multi-directional, and balanced diplomacy" in the context of a polarized world.
According to VNA correspondents in Tokyo, NHK Television, Nikkei newspaper, and Yomiuri newspaper, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has implemented “comprehensive diplomacy” to consolidate and maintain good relations with the US, China, Japan, Russia and other countries, while leading multi-directional diplomacy even as the international community becomes increasingly polarized.
Viet Think Tank Executive Chairman Ha Hoang Hop commented: "Vietnam has developed its regional stature under General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, affirming itself as a proactive country" in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)".
Meanwhile, the Asahi newspaper emphasized that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has positioned its bilateral relationship with Japan as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; trade exchanges and the sending of technical interns have also become deeper. In 2015, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Japan and met with then Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.
Nikkei Asia, Yomiuri and Asaki newspapers also recalled that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has carried out a thorough, historic crackdown on corruption in a rapidly growing economy and won public support, thereby strengthening the Party's central role.

The Washington Post also commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has skillfully implemented a policy of “bamboo diplomacy” when Vietnam needs to navigate its relationship with its most important economic partners, China and the United States, while building relations with countries like India and Russia.
Meanwhile, the New York Times commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an honest and simple leader. Under his leadership, Vietnam has enhanced its reputation in the international arena and is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia.
