On May 25, at Dong Tam International Martyrs Cemetery (Ba Thuoc), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province held a memorial service and burial ceremony for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos, gathered during the dry season of 2022-2023.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Policy Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Command of Military Region 4; representatives of the Special Working Group of Hua Phan province (Lao People's Democratic Republic); departments, branches, sectors, political and social organizations and a large number of local people.

At the ceremony, delegates and local people expressed their deep gratitude for the noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs, and affirmed that the task of searching, collecting, exhuming and repatriating the remains of the martyrs was carried out by Vietnamese volunteers and experts to the Motherland, demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude" of today's generation. This is also the responsibility and deep affection of the Party, government, people and armed forces towards the nation's outstanding children who devoted their youth to the independence and freedom of Vietnam and Laos.

Delegates and local people respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs; expressed gratitude to the martyrs' relatives, families of wounded and sick soldiers and the nation's outstanding children who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the two nations of Vietnam and Laos.

From 1998 to present, implementing the direction of the Government's Special Task Force, National Steering Committee 515, Military Region 4 Command, with the support and assistance of the Party Committee, government and people of the tribes of Hua Phan province, the Martyrs' Grave Collection Team of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command has overcome countless difficulties and hardships, crossed forests and waded through streams to fierce fighting areas during the resistance wars in the Lao People's Democratic Republic to collect information, search for and exhume thousands of remains of comrades and teammates who heroically sacrificed in the glorious revolutionary cause and brought them back to Vietnam for burial.

In the dry season of 2022-2023, the Collection Team of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command proactively overcame all difficulties, closely coordinated with all levels, sectors, and localities of Hua Phan province (Laos) to search for and collect the remains of 16 martyrs of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died on international missions in Laos and brought them back to the country for burial.
