Predicted benchmark scores for grade 10 admission in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year
Today (July 1), the Department of Education and Training held a meeting to review the admission scores for grade 10 public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Specifically, this morning, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training met to review the admission scores for grade 10 specialized high schools, dual diploma, bilingual high schools. In the afternoon, the Department will meet to review the admission scores for grade 10 non-specialized public high schools.
Immediately after the Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training approved, the standard scores for entering grade 10 of each school in the city were widely announced.

Talking to Dan Viet Newspaper reporters about the predicted admission scores for grade 10 in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year, Mr. Bui Ngoc Phuc, author of the books "Overcoming Exams with Your Children" and "Advice on the 10th Grade Entrance Exam", said: "This year's admission scores will not fluctuate much in the top schools. The highest is definitely still Chu Van An with around 44.5 points. Next are Yen Hoa High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School and Kim Lien High School with around 42 to 43 points. The lower-ranked schools will fluctuate a lot due to the large number of candidates. Typically, Khuong Dinh High School, Trung Van High School, Tran Hung Dao High School, Truong Dinh High School. According to the score distribution, candidates must score from 39.5 to 40 points to be sure of a place".
A literature teacher in Ha Dong district, Hanoi also predicted that this year the standard scores will decrease in many schools. The top schools will remain the same or increase slightly by 0.25 to 0.5, with no significant changes.
Ms. Truong Thu Huong, a math teacher at Dich Vong Hau Secondary School, Cau Giay District, Hanoi, said: "The predicted average score for math will probably be around 7 to 8. The predicted standard score for top schools like Yen Hoa and Cau Giay may decrease slightly because although the questions are more difficult, there are more students and the competition rate is higher. The overall standard score will likely decrease slightly."
The principal of a junior high school in Ba Dinh district said: This year's 10th grade benchmark score "will most likely not increase" compared to last year.
Mr. Tran Manh Tung, a Math teacher in Hanoi, commented that this year's benchmark scores will not have many fluctuations, similar to last year.

In 2023, Chu Van An High School leads the benchmark for grade 10 admission in Hanoi with a score of 44.5 points (an increase of 1.25 points compared to 2022).
In second place is Kim Lien High School with a benchmark score of 43.25 points. Following that are Viet Duc High School and Phan Dinh Phung High School with benchmark scores of 43 and 42.74 points respectively. Last in the top 5 schools with the highest benchmark scores for grade 10 in Hanoi is Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong with an admission score of 42.25 points.
In 2022, Chu Van An High School also took the lead with 43.25 points. Following were the following schools: Yen Hoa High School (42.25 points); Phan Dinh Phung High School (42 points); Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (41.75 points); Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong (41.75 points).
In 2021, Chu Van An High School took the lead with a benchmark score of 53.30. Second place was Kim Lien High School with 50.25 points. Yen Hoa High School and Le Quy Don - Ha Dong High School followed closely behind with benchmark scores of 50 and 49.4 points, respectively.
In principle, each student can register up to 3 wishes (NV) to apply to 3 public high schools in the order of NV1, NV2 and NV3. Each student can only be admitted (and confirmed to enroll) to a single non-specialized public high school.
Students who pass NV1 will not be considered for NV2 and NV3. Students who fail NV1 will be considered for NV2 but must have an admission score (DXT) that is at least 1.0 points higher than the school's NV1 admission standard. Students who fail NV1 and NV2 will be considered for NV3 but must have an DXT that is at least 2.0 points higher than the school's NV1 admission standard. When the admission standard is lowered, public high schools are allowed to admit students with NV2 and NV3 who meet the admission requirements.
After knowing the admission scores for grade 10 in Hanoi in 2024, from July 1 to July 4, the Department will carry out the following tasks: announce the admission scores for specialized and non-specialized schools; hand over admission data to serve online admission confirmation; hand over admission score results to public high schools.
