Predicting the cut-off scores for 10th grade entrance exams in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year.

Today (July 1st), the Department of Education and Training held a meeting to review the entrance exam scores for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Specifically, this morning, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training met to review the entrance exam scores for specialized, dual-degree, and bilingual high schools. In the afternoon, the Department will meet to review the entrance exam scores for non-specialized public high schools.

Immediately after the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training approves the scores, the entrance exam cutoff scores for 10th grade in each school across the city are widely publicized.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Viet newspaper about the predicted entrance exam scores for 10th grade in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year, Mr. Bui Ngoc Phuc, author of the books "Helping Your Child Overcome Exams" and "Advice for the 10th Grade Entrance Exam," said: "This year's cut-off scores won't fluctuate much at top-tier schools. The highest score will definitely still be at Chu Van An High School with around 44.5 points. Next are Yen Hoa High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, and Kim Lien High School, which will be around 42 to 43 points. Lower-tier schools will see more fluctuations due to the large number of candidates. For example, Khuong Dinh High School, Trung Van High School, Tran Hung Dao High School, and Truong Dinh High School. According to the score distribution, candidates need to score between 39.5 and 40 points to secure a place."

A literature teacher in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, also predicted that the cut-off scores for many schools would decrease this year. Top-tier schools would maintain or slightly increase their scores by 0.25 to 0.5 points, with no significant changes.

Ms. Truong Thu Huong, a math teacher at Dich Vong Hau Secondary School in Cau Giay District, Hanoi, said: "I predict the average score for the math subject will likely be around 7 to 8. I predict the cut-off scores for top schools like Yen Hoa and Cau Giay might decrease slightly because although the exam was more difficult, there were more students, resulting in a higher competition ratio. The overall cut-off score will likely decrease slightly."

The principal of a junior high school in Ba Dinh district believes that the cut-off scores for 10th grade this year "are highly unlikely to increase" compared to last year.

According to Mr. Tran Manh Tung, a math teacher in Hanoi, the cut-off scores this year will not change much, similar to last year.

What are the entrance exam scores for 10th grade in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year at top schools? Check the scores from previous years.

In 2023, Chu Van An High School topped the list of schools in Hanoi with the highest entrance exam score for 10th grade, at 44.5 points (an increase of 1.25 points compared to 2022).

In second place is Kim Lien High School with a cutoff score of 43.25 points. Following that are Viet Duc High School and Phan Dinh Phung High School with cutoff scores of 43 and 42.74 points respectively. Rounding out the top 5 schools with the highest 10th grade entrance scores in Hanoi is Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong with a cutoff score of 42.25 points.

In 2022, Chu Van An High School also led with 43.25 points. Following behind were: Yen Hoa High School (42.25 points); Phan Dinh Phung High School (42 points); Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (41.75 points); Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong (41.75 points).

In principle, each student can register a maximum of 3 preferences for admission to 3 public high schools, ranked in order of preference 1, preference 2, and preference 3. Each student will only be admitted (and confirm enrollment) to one non-specialized public high school.

Students admitted to their first choice (NV1) will not be considered for their second or third choices (NV2, NV3). Students not admitted to their first choice (NV1) will be considered for their second choice (NV2) but must have an admission score (ĐXT) at least 1.0 point higher than the school's first-choice admission score. Students not admitted to their first or second choices (NV1) will be considered for their third choice (NV3) but must have an admission score at least 2.0 points higher than the school's first-choice admission score. When lowering the admission score, public high schools are allowed to accept students who meet the admission requirements for their second and third choices (NV2, NV3).

After the Hanoi Department of Education announces the 2024 10th grade entrance exam cutoff scores, from July 1st to July 4th, it will carry out the following tasks: announcing the cutoff scores for specialized and non-specialized schools; handing over admission data for online enrollment confirmation; and handing over the admission results to public high schools.
