To review the tradition on the path of formation and development, tomorrow, April 5, Duy Tan High School will celebrate its 15th anniversary (April 5, 2010 - April 5, 2025).

Beautiful school in the east

Duy Tan High School was established in April 2010, becoming one of the "latecomers" of Quang Nam education. The establishment of the 6th high school in Tam Ky opens up favorable opportunities for children to go to school near home, not only in the eastern area of ​​Tam Ky but also in neighboring localities of Nui Thanh and Thang Binh districts.

But due to lack of timely preparation and investment, at first, the school had to use the old facility of Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School (Tam Phu Commune, Tam Ky City) to organize teaching and learning activities. It was thought to be temporary for a few years, but unexpectedly, teachers and students had to struggle to "live with" the difficulties caused by such degraded and inadequate facilities for more than 5 years.

In 2016, Duy Tan High School moved to a new location built in the same area of ​​Tam Phu commune, not far from the old location. The new facility was planned to be spacious, located on Nguyen Tat Thanh street, and invested in a majestic construction with 3 3-storey buildings, including 2 classrooms and a practical laboratory area, department rooms, and an eye-catching auditorium.

In 2016-2017, Duy Tan High School was a school with spacious facilities and a total investment of 77 billion VND in 3 phases. In the following years, there were some more schools with similar large investments such as Nguyen Hue High School (Nui Thanh) or Ho Nghinh (Duy Xuyen).

Overcome difficulties and rise up

Despite being a city school, Duy Tan High School is located in and enrolls students from all rural and poor coastal areas of Tam Ky, Nui Thanh and Thang Binh.

Mr. Le Minh Tho - Principal said that the enrollment area of ​​Duy Tan High School includes 6 communes and wards in the eastern region; of which 4 communes and wards of Tam Ky include An Phu ward, Tam Phu commune, Tam Thang, Tam Thanh, and the communes of Tam Tien (Nui Thanh) and Binh Nam (Thang Binh). Currently, the school has 1,247 students in 32 classes, of which Tam Ky students account for more than 75%.

Mr. Tho shared that students from rural and coastal areas have the lowest admission scores in the province every year. As a result, the school has encountered many difficulties in improving the quality of key and mass education.

In addition, the life of the people in the recruitment area is mainly coastal, so there are many difficulties. Many parents go to sea for long periods or work far away, so they have little opportunity to manage, care for, and encourage their children to study, causing the dropout rate to remain high.

However, with the efforts and determination of the entire pedagogical council, the school gradually overcame difficulties and challenges, gradually asserted itself and made great contributions to the cause of educating people for the revolutionary base area of ​​Tam Ky over the past 15 years.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has 78 staff and teachers, of which 100% meet professional qualifications and nearly 13% meet training standards (master's degree). The teaching staff always has a high spirit and responsibility for their work, spreading love to their beloved students; constantly self-studying and improving their professional skills to meet the requirements of innovation.

To overcome the weakness of low admission, the school promotes tutoring and support for weak students to improve overall quality. Particularly for grade 12, every year the school organizes a variety of regular teaching methods, extra classes, extra classes and post-graduation review, helping students prepare well for the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam. At the same time, the school focuses on training excellent students to participate in provincial competitions.

Thanks to that, in recent years, Duy Tan High School has achieved some positive results in teaching and learning. Most recently, in the 2024 high school graduation exam, the graduation rate reached 99.7%, the average score of all subjects was higher than the average of the whole province; at the same time, it won 24 provincial excellent student competitions in the 2023-2024 school year, ranking 22nd in the province (up 8 places compared to the 2022-2023 school year).

Principal Le Minh Tho said that in the coming time, the school will continue to improve the quality of comprehensive education, focusing on moral education, lifestyle, and life skills for students, becoming a prestigious address with good quality in the province.

At the same time, the goal is to achieve level 3 quality accreditation and level 2 national standards by the 2026-2027 school year.
