On the morning of September 11, Green Shoots International School officially opened its doors to welcome students into the new school year 2023-2024, after a period of sudden closure.

According to the record, Green Shoots has moved to a new location and rented the facilities of Victoria Inter-level School (located in Dien Ngoc Ward, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam ) to organize teaching activities. This location is about 10 km from the old school in Cam Chau Ward (Hoi An City).

On the first morning of the school reopening, Green Shoots welcomed a number of students, mainly primary school children. In some classrooms, there were a few foreign teachers present.

Parents take students to new location to start class

A parent whose child attends Green Shoots said that after the school suddenly announced its closure, she and many other parents were very confused.

At that time, some parents were afraid that Green Shoots would permanently close and affect their children's education, so they proactively looked for other schools for their children. As for her, she still had faith that the school would reopen, so she waited.

According to this parent, she has 2 children studying at Green Shoots, the older child has been studying since grade 1 and is now in grade 8, while the younger child has just entered grade 2. Recently, when she received information that the school would reopen, her worries were relieved.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Victoria Inter-level School, said that on September 7, Ms. Catherine Clare McKinley (52 years old, British nationality, investor of Green Shoots) contacted him and expressed her desire to rent the school's facilities to organize teaching.

After listening to Mrs. Catherine Clare McKinley's presentation, he decided to rent 15 rooms of his school for Green Shoots to reopen. Mrs. Catherine Clare McKinley is currently in England so she authorized him to temporarily manage. The total number of students in 3 levels (primary, middle, high school) is about 100, along with nearly 30 teachers.

Licensed to enroll students since 2014

According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, Green Shoots was licensed by the provincial People's Committee to enroll students from preschool to high school in 2014. In the early stages of its establishment, the school was small in scale, mainly for preschool children. In the license, Green Shoots teaches the British nationaleducation program (IPC, IGCSE) and the international baccalaureate program (IBD and IBDP).

In the 2019-2020 school year, the school operated effectively, ensuring educational quality and gaining the trust of many parents. The use and management of the school's staff were in accordance with legal regulations.

Green Shoots International School's new location is about 10 km from the old location.

However, since the middle of the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the school has encountered many difficulties in recruiting students. As a private school, tuition revenue has decreased, so activities have been affected.

By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the school had 95 students, most of whom were children of foreigners, with only 11 students being Vietnamese. A total of 43 teachers and staff worked here.

From 2022, the school had planned to move to another location because the current rental place did not sign a new contract. However, this was not implemented.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, in a notice sent to parents, the school announced that it would close the old school in Cam Chau Ward and plan to transfer to APU. However, through information exchange, Ms. Catherine Clare McKinley confirmed that the two sides have not yet signed a contract due to disagreement on terms.
