The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent an official dispatch to Hue University (Thua Thien - Hue province) regarding the handling of the thesis case of Ms. Le Thi An H. The official dispatch was signed and issued by Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education under the order of the Minister of Education and Training.
According to the content of the official dispatch of the Ministry of Education and Training, after receiving the official dispatch of Hue University regarding the settlement of the petition denouncing Ms. H.'s doctoral thesis for plagiarism, the Ministry of Education and Training reviewed and commented on this matter.
The Ministry of Education and Training requested Hue University to re-evaluate this doctoral thesis, thereby determining the disciplinary action against Ms. H.
Hue University Headquarters.
In case the thesis no longer meets the requirements of a doctoral thesis, Hue University needs to consider the responsibility of the council to approve the above doctoral thesis. Hue University needs to report to the Ministry of Education and Training before January 31, 2025.
Previously, on November 22, Hue University announced the conclusion of the accusation that Ms. Le Thi An H. (at the time of the announcement, Ms. H. was the head of the scientific research department of a center under the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province) had plagiarized her doctoral thesis.
According to Hue University, Ms. Le Thi An H. was previously a graduate student in the 2013 class at the University of Sciences (Hue University). In March 2018, Ms. H. successfully defended her doctoral thesis at the Hue University Doctoral Thesis Defense Council with the topic "History of Vietnam: The process of formation, development and transformation of royal festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945".
However, after Ms. H.'s doctoral thesis was published, someone filed a complaint that many of its contents used other people's ideas, did not cite sources, and violated plagiarism. After receiving the complaint, Hue University established a review board to re-evaluate Ms. Le Thi An H.'s doctoral thesis.
After verification, Hue University concluded that the doctoral thesis in History (major: Vietnamese History, code: 62.22.03.13) of Ms. Le Thi An H. violated plagiarism.
“ The content of Ms. Le Thi An H.’s doctoral thesis has many passages that use ideas and paragraphs similar to previously published works by other authors. Many details in the thesis were not specifically cited by Ms. H.. Plagiarism was determined to be 12 pages ,” the conclusion of Hue University stated.
The Director of Hue University requested the thesis author to seriously absorb and edit the contents pointed out in the conclusion of the denunciation and submit it for deposit according to current regulations.
The University of Sciences - Hue University presides over and coordinates with the Training and Student Affairs Department of Hue University to monitor and confirm the author's thesis revision according to the conclusion of the accusation.
In addition, Hue University proposed that the Minister of Education and Training establish a council to evaluate the content of Ms. Le Thi An H.'s doctoral thesis to resolve the matter according to its authority.
