Instead, the school will happily receive cards with wishes from children and parents on March 8.
And more specially, the school will receive gifts of "rooted and living saplings" for the school to plant and green the children's playground.
The school does not accept flowers or gifts on March 8 from parents
The school's announcement, with friendly and gentle words, was sent to each parent whose children study at the school:
Every holiday season, parents and children want to express their gratitude to their teachers. However, the school and teachers would like to not accept gifts (materials, goods, etc.) from parents on all holidays and Tet in accordance with the school's cultural regulations.
The school also asks permission not to accept flower baskets, because the cost of a flower basket is not cheap, and the flowers will wither after a few days.
Instead, the school can receive young trees with roots and life so that teachers and children can plant them together to green the learning and playing space.
The school also requests permission to only accept cards with wishes, messages, and good feelings that children and parents want to send.
How lovely it would be if those were cards made by parents and children together, simple and rustic but full of love.
The school's board of directors also hopes that parents will understand and work with the school to create a healthy, peaceful, loving and fair environment for children, teachers and parents.
Get plants instead of gifts
Nun Thuan Dinh, in charge of Lam Ty Ni Kindergarten, said that every holiday season, parents think about buying gifts for the teachers who raise and take care of their children at school every day.
"There are many parents who do not have the financial means but still try to borrow money to buy gifts for teachers. This is really heartbreaking," said nun Thuan Dinh.
According to the nun, giving flowers and gifts to teachers on holidays also unintentionally creates an unequal educational environment for children because each family's economy is different, and the gifts teachers receive are also different.
Therefore, the school board decided to issue a notice to parents not to accept flowers or gifts during the holidays, and to impose quite strict disciplinary measures on teachers who violate this regulation.

"The school only asks parents to donate to the school young trees with roots, green trees with life so that teachers and children can grow those trees in green areas around the school.
This helps children understand the value of nature, trees and most of all, educates children to protect the environment," said nun Thien Dinh.
According to the nun, since the announcement of receiving trees instead of gifts, parents at the school have been very happy to give trees to teachers. Currently, the school has a garden of trees donated by parents to the school on every holiday.
The school also regularly organizes activities for children to plant trees and learn to recognize flowers and leaves in this green garden.
Mr. Tran Khanh, a parent at Lam Ty Ni Kindergarten, said that when he received the notice to give plants instead of flowers from the school, he immediately told his wife to buy a succulent plant to give to the school as a gift.
"As parents like me, we all hope that our children will receive many good and safe things when they go to school. This announcement is a very meaningful gift that the school gives to parents and children studying here," said Mr. Khanh.
