For a long time, the education sector has been associated with the slogan: "Every day at school is a happy day". Recently, a new trend has been to build happy schools. To achieve this, many schools have set out regulations that are both suitable for social trends and humane.
Respect students' differences
Humanity is shown in the fact that school regulations are educational guidelines, the basis for training habits and personality, not a heavy, strict bondage. School regulations are not a tool to deal with students who violate them.
Students of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (HCMC) get to wear their favorite color on "Happy Friday"
For example, instead of banning students from wearing lipstick as before, many high schools have recently allowed female students to wear lipstick, but not too flashy. This year, the regulations of Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) have some very new ideas: "Students must respect the differences of other students in the class."
Letting students be themselves, wearing their favorite colors, and doing exercises they choose together is how Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (HCMC) has created a happy school, inspiring its students since 2019.
"Happy Friday" is a special feature of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. On that day, students are allowed to wear their favorite clothes. Each class will choose different colors of clothes and do exercises according to their "taste"...
In recent years, some schools also let students "dress freely" (with some regulations) every Friday to practice being active and to practice the habit of dressing politely and culturally when they grow up.
Many schools do not prohibit female students from wearing lipstick, but only require them to not wear flashy makeup.
No need to worry about bringing your phone to school
Nowadays, technology is developing very strongly, greatly affecting all fields, including education. Knowing how to take advantage of technology is a great advantage. Therefore, except for primary school, from secondary school and above, many schools do not prohibit students from bringing phones, tablets, laptops to school.
A teacher at a high school in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City said: "My school's regulations do not prohibit students from bringing phones to school. The school allows students to use them for entertainment on campus during recess, break time, and during class if requested by the teacher."
With the current open teaching method, students taking advantage of digital technology right in class is an advantage. Moreover, in recent years, the education sector has advocated both direct teaching and applying software for online teaching. Therefore, equipping devices for teaching in the classroom is necessary. The use of digital technology devices for learning and assessment has been emphasized since the Covid-19 outbreak.
Many schools allow students to use cell phones for learning purposes.
Some schools such as Tran Khai Nguyen High School (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City), Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City)... have allowed students to use mobile phones, tablets, and laptops for online testing. Many school leaders also advocate covering the entire school with wifi to serve the teaching and entertainment needs of students, helping to update information quickly. Teachers and students can easily exchange lessons and information, saving time and money compared to printing documents.
Many schools have installed cameras in schools and classrooms. Currently, student attendance at some high schools in Ho Chi Minh City is taken through facial recognition using a scanner (directly, or by photo card)...
These rules that keep up with the trend do not reduce students' discipline but help them feel respected, so they are more attached and happy every day they go to school. The joy of going to school will motivate them to study better and strive harder in cultivating their qualities.
