After the first 7 months of 2024, the number of Chinese visitors to Vietnam reached more than 2.1 million, an increase of about 200% over the same period last year. China is currently the second largest source of international visitors to Vietnam (after South Korea) and continues to show very positive signs of recovery.
On the other hand, Vietnamese tourists are also an important market for the tourism industry in many provinces and cities of China. Therefore, many Chinese localities such as Nanning, Zhangjiajie, Guangxi, Hainan, etc. have organized promotional activities in Vietnam.
At the Zhangjiajie (Hunan Province, China) cultural and tourism exchange program recently held in Hanoi, Zhangjiajie government leaders said that this city alone welcomed more than 102,000 Vietnamese visitors in 2023, and more than 42,000 after the first half of 2024. Currently, Vietnam is the leading international tourist market of Zhangjiajie.
"During the September 2nd holiday last year, the number of Vietnamese tourists registering to travel to Hunan increased so the tour was sold out since July. This year is the same, the number of tourists is very large, the company is also full of groups for the upcoming September 2nd holiday. We use flights of airlines in Vietnam so we are supported by Vietnamese people. The direct flight is convenient, saving travel time, tourists feel relaxed, have more time to visit China. Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration said that currently, there are many favorable conditions to promote the flow of Chinese tourists to Vietnam, as well as from Vietnam to China, such as two-way promotion activities, aviation connections, cultural similarities between the two countries... In particular, the support of high-ranking leaders of Vietnam and China has created conditions for the two countries' industries and localities to cooperate in development, including the tourism industry.
Currently, Vietnamese tourists to Zhangjiajie have many options for travel, the most convenient of which is the direct flight from Hanoi to Zhangjiajie operated by a Vietnamese airline. "The direct flight takes just over 2 hours to Zhangjiajie city, where Wulingyuan National Forest Park is located, shortening travel time, ensuring health and comfort during the trip; as well as convenience in exploring destinations in Hunan province such as Yuanjiajie scenic area - Avatar film set", said Mr. Pham Minh Tu - General Director of Dong Duong Holiday Company.

"In 2012, there were not many Vietnamese tourists to Zhangjiajie, now this place has welcomed hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese visitors. The remarkable growth has demonstrated the strong attraction and significant tourism potential of Zhangjiajie. Regular flights from Vietnam to Zhangjiajie have created a stable flow of tourists. In addition, the emergence of many new services and amenities, along with tours specially designed for Vietnamese tourists, has enhanced the travel experience and attracted more and more tourists to participate".
In the coming time, tourism promotion activities between Vietnam and China will continue to be promoted. In the near future, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration will organize delegations to introduce Vietnamese tourism in Sichuan - Chongqing, Beijing - Shanghai, participate in the China International Travel Fair (CITM), China - ASEAN Travel Fair and many other activities. In return, China will continue to promote and introduce many destinations and promote flights in Vietnam.
