In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will enroll 16 university majors with a total of 2,576 students. The school will not use the exam scores retained from previous years' high school and national high school exams for admission.

4 admission combinations

Medicine, dentistry, traditional medicine consider combination B00 (math, chemistry, biology).

Pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry, nursing, anesthesia and resuscitation nursing, midwifery, dental prosthetics, medical testing, medical imaging, rehabilitation, nutrition, public health, and preventive medicine consider 2 groups: B00 and A00 (math, physics, chemistry).

The social work major considers 4 combinations: B00; A00; B03 (math, biology, literature); B08 (math, biology, English). From 2026, the school will not use combination A00 to consider admission to the social work major.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khoi - head of the university training department of the school - said: "The combinations are considered for admission together, there is no regulation on the difference in scores between the combinations.

For training programs using admission combinations with English subjects, candidates are required to take the high school graduation exam in English. The school does not convert foreign language certificates used to exempt high school graduation exams into foreign language subject scores for admission.

4 admission methods, adding points for candidates with international certificates

Method 1: Consider the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam

Candidates with total exam scores of the B00/A00/B03/B08 combination and priority points (if any) must be equal to or above the minimum score threshold to ensure input quality as prescribed by the Admissions Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Method 2: Combine high school graduation exam results with international certificates for admission consideration

Candidates register for admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam.

"Candidates with international certificates will receive extra points according to the regulations of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy (for all training majors). The school uses international certificates as extra points in admissions.

Bonus points will only be calculated when candidates submit certified copies of international certificates (IELTS/TOEFL iBT; SAT) in accordance with the conditions on the bonus threshold and within the time specified in the school's admission announcement," Mr. Khoi added.

IELTS certificate issuing unit: British Council (BC); International Development Program (IDP). TOEFL iBT certificate issuing unit: Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Threshold for bonus points: Candidates with IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher/TOEFL iBT 80 or higher. Candidates with international SAT certificate from 1,340 points or higher.

The international certificate is valid for 2 years from the exam date to the deadline for receiving the international certificate according to the school's admission announcement.

The admission score is the total score of the exams/subjects on a 10-point scale for each exam/subject of the admission combination B00, A00, B03 and B08 plus the regional and subject priority points according to regulations and the international certificate bonus points rounded to two decimal places before adding.

Admission score = total score of 3 exams (a) + priority points (b) + bonus points (c)

(on a 30-point scale).

(a) = exam scores of math + biology + chemistry/math + physics + chemistry/math + biology + literature/math + biology + English;

(b) = priority points by region, subject;

(c) = bonus points for international certificates are rounded to two decimal places before being added to the admission score.

International English Certificate: (choose only 1 of 2) - Bonus points: IELTS = 0.9 x IELTS score/9; TOEFL iBT = 0.9 x TOEFL iBT score/120.

International SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) Certificate - Bonus points: SAT = 0.9 x SAT score/1,600 (note: international certificate bonus points are rounded to 2 decimal places before adding).

Admission requirements: Candidates must have graduated from high school and the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam must have a total score of the B00/A00/B03/B08 combination and priority points (if any) equal to or above the minimum score threshold to ensure input quality as prescribed by the Admissions Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Admission principles:

+ Admission score = total score of 3 exam subjects + priority points + bonus points (maximum admission score is 30 points).

+ The Admissions Council will make a list of candidates registering for admission to each major in descending order of admission scores. The list of successful candidates will be selected according to admission scores, from highest to lowest until the quota is met.

In case many candidates have the same admission score at the end of the list, the school will give priority to the candidate with the higher priority, with priority 1 being the highest priority.

Method 3: Direct admission according to the regulations of the admission regulations

Candidates for direct admission to university are considered according to the provisions of Article 8 of the 2025 University Admission Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Specifically as follows:

Labor heroes, people's armed forces heroes, and national emulation fighters are admitted directly to university in all majors.

Candidates who won first, second, and third prizes in national and international competitions for excellent students organized and nominated by the Ministry of Education and Training, the time of winning the prize is no more than 3 years from the time of direct admission, and have graduated from high school (see details here).

Method 4: College Preparation

Candidates are students of Ho Chi Minh City University Preparatory School and Nha Trang Central Ethnic University Preparatory School who have completed the university preparatory program, have been allocated a quota by the university preparatory school and meet the admission requirements to Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
