The independent exam to assess the capacity of Hanoi National University of Education in 2025 will be held on May 17 and 18, 2025. From 2026, the exam will add subjects of economics and law, information technology, and technology.

On November 22, Hanoi National University of Education announced the exam organization plan and reference exam questions for the independent exam to assess the school's capacity in 2025 (SPT exam).
Candidates for the competency assessment test
Accordingly, the candidates for the independent exam to assess the capacity of Hanoi National University of Education in 2025 (SPT exam) are 12th grade high school students or high school graduates (or equivalent), who need to take the capacity assessment exam to use the results in university admission.
SPT exam results are only valid for regular university admission in the 2025 enrollment year.
Regarding the exam content, candidates can register for the subjects of math, literature, English, physics, chemistry, biology, history, and geography and use the exam results to register for admission to regular university training programs according to the requirements of each university.
Candidates can choose to register for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 exams. For each exam session, candidates can only register for a maximum of 1 exam.
Because each university has different regulations on the number and combination of exam subjects to get exam results and consider admission to training programs; therefore, the school recommends that candidates need to carefully study the admission plan of each school to register for the correct and sufficient number of exam subjects, suitable for their admission wishes.
The school noted that from 2026, the SPT exam is expected to add subjects of economics and law, information technology, and technology.
The SPT exam will take place on May 17 and 18, 2025 at four testing locations including Hanoi National University of Education, Vinh University, Quy Nhon University, and University of Education - University of Da Nang.
Registration period is from March 15 to April 15, 2025. The 2025 SPT exam scores will be announced before June 15, 2025.

Four types of questions on the SPT exam
According to the school, the content of the exams corresponds to the content of high school subjects and exams; in accordance with the 2018 general education program and the teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The test combines multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring scales according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet (TLTN) and writing on the test paper.
Specifically, there are 4 types of questions as follows:

22 schools consider university admission using SPT exam
According to Hanoi National University of Education, there are currently 22 higher education institutions that recognize and use the SPT exam results for regular university admission.
The schools include Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi National University of Education 2, Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education, Thai Nguyen University of Education, Hue University of Education, Da Nang University of Education, Quy Nhon University, Vinh University, Vinh University of Technical Education, Hanoi University of Construction, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Academy of Educational Management, Vietnam Women's Academy.
Academy of Ethnic Minorities, Hanoi Capital University, Tay Bac University, Hai Phong University, Ha Long University, Hoa Lu University, Hong Duc University, Tay Nguyen University, Thu Dau Mot University.
