International standard training environment, superior infrastructure
Busan University of Science and Technology (BUST) is located in the coastal city of Busan, South Korea. Established on March 17, 1977, this is an international standard university, certified by the Korean Ministry of Education. With more than 40 years of experience, taking educational skills as the foundation, including a quality vocational training program, the school continuously trains, teaches, nurtures professional talents and provides the best environment for international students to study.
With high-quality infrastructure, Busan University of Economics was selected by the Korean Ministry of Education for the only GHC (Global Hub College) Project in Busan - Ulsan, period 2010 - 2013. In 2015, the school continued to be selected by the Korean Ministry of Labor for the K-Move School Project (to the world). In 2016, the school was recognized for its ability to manage and maintain foreign students with an illegal stay rate of less than 1%. In 2019 and 2022, the school was selected as a teaching unit for the social integration program for immigrants of the Korean Ministry of Justice for the years 2020 - 2021 and 2022 - 2024.
Up to now, the school has signed cooperation agreements with all relevant agencies in countries such as the US, China, Vietnam, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong... thanks to which, the school has over 1,000 international students participating in the Global Camps program.
Possessing an excellent Korean Language Center with modern, spacious classroom facilities and diverse Korean cultural experience programs for international students, Busan University of Economics has become a leading international university in Korea.
Reasonable tuition, best welfare in Korea
In order to facilitate international students, the school has a very reasonable tuition fee system such as Korean language course 1,000,000 won/term (3 months), or major and advanced major course 2,600,000 won/term (6 months).
In addition, the school has many scholarship programs for international students from the time of admission to graduation. At the same time, the school also offers a scholarship of 500,000 won to students with an average score of 8.0 or higher in 3 years of high school or with TOPIK 2 or higher when registering for a language course (D4 visa). A scholarship of 600,000 won is given for the first semester to students with TOPIK 3 or higher when enrolling in a major (D2 visa).
In addition, 50% of language tuition is reduced for students who enroll in a major without TOPIK 2 or higher (studying Korean in parallel with major). At the same time, the school annually nominates students to receive scholarships from Busan City and scholarships from teachers and staff in the school, scholarships for students who actively participate in student union activities, etc.
Not only does the school have a reasonable tuition policy, it is also rated by international students as one of the schools with the best welfare policies for international students in Korea. Specifically, the school allows registration for 100% accident insurance for all international students; builds a comfortable dormitory living environment inside and outside the school with modern equipment and facilities, especially in the dormitory there is a separate dining room for international students, students can cook for themselves and the school will provide free meals for students.
Another interesting point is that the school has a very diverse cultural experience program. Every year, the school will cover all costs for Korean cultural experience programs, creating opportunities for international students to participate in exploring and learning about Korean culture (visiting Jejudo Island, Seoul capital...). Build after-school activities for international students studying languages, select the best students from among the language students to join teachers in cultural tours, watch sports, watch movies,... and participate in cultural festivals.
In addition, the school also organizes competitions to learn about Korean culture, Korean speaking contests, K-POP singing and dancing contests; organizes sports exchanges with international students and Korean students; annually organizes volunteer activities for international students to make kimchi to help disadvantaged children...
The choice of many Vietnamese students
In recent years, Busan University of Economics has become a destination for many Vietnamese students. Sharing about this, Dr. Jeong Haeng Kyu - Director of the Institute of International Education, said: “Currently, the Korean Government and the Vietnamese Government have many policies to promote cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries. Accordingly, Korean universities also have many policies to change in accordance with the development requirements of reality. Not only that, Busan city also has many policies to attract highly skilled workers to stay and work long-term. Understanding these issues, Busan University of Economics has many support policies for Vietnamese international students. The most prominent is the GSE-7 program (Global Standard Education & E7 Program, Global Standard Education & E7 visa)”.
Dr. Jeong Haeng Kyu added: “Previously, the school recruited students from countries such as China, Thailand, Taiwan... but now the school only focuses on recruiting and training Vietnamese students (understanding the huge demand for Vietnamese labor of Korean enterprises). The school has many scholarship policies to help Vietnamese students such as 20% tuition reduction compared to Korean students, scholarships based on academic performance... The school is also fully equipped with modern, convenient and safe facilities for international students living at the school. The main goal of the school is to ensure that 100% of students after graduation are converted to long-term work visas and eventually have permanent visas in Korea.”
Once an international student from Vietnam, now a lecturer at the Graduate School, the General Manager of Foreign Affairs for Student Recruitment and Student Management at Busan University of Economics, Dr. Bui Dinh Mien confided: “20 years ago, I was also an international student like you today. Understanding the difficulties you face in the early days of coming to Korea and in the process of studying and working in Korea, we always help you as much as possible, especially with issues such as language, culture and legal differences. We organize many legal lessons with the participation of the District Police Department and the Immigration Department, so that you can adapt to life here as quickly as possible.
The school also maintains regular contact between the school and the family. Because the students are still very young when they come to Korea, their thinking is not yet mature, so we regularly organize meetings to educate them about their future orientation, helping them have the right direction for their future.
Talking about Busan University of Economics, Nguyen Phuong Nam (Vinh Phuc) - graduated from the Faculty of Automotive Technology in 2021 and is currently working under an E7 visa in Korea, confided: “During my studies at the school, I received a lot of attention and care from the teachers. Whenever I was sick, someone took me to the hospital for examination. While studying, the school also provided free meals in the dormitory for students, so we reduced our living expenses a lot. In particular, after graduating, the school introduced a company for me to work and helped me convert to an E7 VISA (a work visa with no fixed term). I am very grateful to the school and I also want to tell the students who come after me to choose Busan University of Economics and that choice will not disappoint them.”
As a student studying Korean at the school, young girl Nguyen Quynh Trang (Hanoi), confided: “The school has very spacious classrooms with modern equipment. In particular, the teachers are very enthusiastic in teaching us. There are teachers who know Vietnamese, so we learn and absorb Korean very quickly.
Every year, the school organizes many visits to famous tourist destinations, experiencing Korean culture and history (day trips or 3 days 2 nights trips), so we have many opportunities to experience Korean culture. If I had to choose again, I would definitely choose Busan University of Economics. Thank you to the school and thank you to all the teachers."
Some features of the GSE-7 special program of Busan University of Economics
Understanding the needs, goals, and aspirations of international students as well as Korean businesses, with the aim of training highly skilled human resources that meet the quality standards required by Korean businesses, the school is implementing the GSE-7 training project (Global Standard Education & E7 Program, Global Standard Education & E7 visa).
The school signs contracts with Korean businesses to train according to the business's requirements. After completing the course at the school, the businesses will directly accept students and support the conversion of E7 VISA (long-term resident workers in Korea).
Not only in Korea, the school also signed contracts with Korean businesses in Vietnam, so that students who need to apply for jobs after graduating and returning to their home country, the school will also immediately introduce them to those businesses.
Busan University of Science and Technology is famous for its departments: Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Hotel Management, etc. The rate of graduates who are converted to long-term visas to reside and work in Korea is the highest among professional universities. |
