He explained that his intended statement was: "We are very happy that the competition is still taking place even though Hai Phong has just encountered the biggest storm ever."

The head of the Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 Organizing Committee said the incident happened due to many factors, including him being distracted by organizational issues before the opening ceremony, as well as the speech paper getting wet due to the rain and wind. He expressed his deep regret and asked for everyone's forgiveness.

In addition, Mr. Khanh also explained why he personally crowned the new Miss Ky Duyen instead of letting the reigning Miss Ly Kim Thao do it. The incident happened because the design of Ly Kim Thao's dress made her unable to raise her arms, so she asked him to crown her instead.

Mr. Khanh emphasized that the Organizing Committee has carried out practical activities to support local people after the storm. Specifically, the contest canceled the semi-final night to organize for contestants to participate in cleaning up fallen trees and visiting lonely elderly people. In addition, the Organizing Committee and contestants donated 150 million VND to support people in flooded areas through the Hai Phong City Fatherland Front Committee.
